"I wouldn't share a bed with you every night if I didn't think we worked well together." She makes the mistake of looking away from his face and takes note of how he's laying. He looks laughable, but this situation is so pathetic she can't bring herself to laugh. She's barely able to smile.

"I thought you knew and felt the same way."

She's confused about what he's doing here with her if he didn't know she thought that. It's hard not to look or sound a little lost and hurt by thinking he's unsure about everything between them. How can he not know that she thinks that they work well together?
