"You're gonna get a lot of people who want to preach the power of friendship," Kovacs says wryly. People who wanted to try and change you, to make you into a better man not thinking that you were always as good as you could be.

"I tend to throw doors at them," he says but his tone and expression don't make it easy to discern if he's lying. "For lack of any better weapons in this fucking place."
