one. finding his vac suit. open.
It was just routine, by now, for him to go down to the airlock and check over the vac suits - make sure none of them were leaking and that they were all ready to go in case of an emergency. So he was mostly running on autopilot, as he headed down there, but as he walked past the airlock door he caught sight of something through the view port. He stopped dead, before quickly hitting the access panel, the door sliding open.
Inside waited a suit - specifically, a Martian vac suit. He felt like he was seeing things, as he walked up to it. It wasn't just any vac suit, though. It had all the scuffs and scratches and marks as his suit, from the Roci. He touched it carefully, then turned to look at whoever had stopped to see his surprise, and said, "I ain't sure I should be askin' any questions, but damn. This is mine. Have they had this the whole time?
two. finding the rest of his gear. semi-closed to roci crew / close cr.
He didn't want to leave the vac suit in the airlock - wanted to get Amos to take a fine toothed comb over the thing - so he carried it back to the shared quarters. He set it up in a corner, fussing a little bit, when he spotted something in the bathroom.
"What the --"
He found the little tray of cucumber sandwiches, and pulled them back out into the main room. "What the hell am I even lookin' at?"
A little while later, with a surprised sound, he found his clothes folded up, and changed into his Tachi jumpsuit and shirt, immediately feeling more comfortable once both of them were on. There was another shirt, too, which seemed more like Bobbie's size than his, and an extra communicator in his pocket. Whenever either of them wandered into the room, he'd hold out the item and say, "Think this one is better off with you."
Later, he'd find the bottle of gin in his toilet, and almost laugh as he pulled it out. He knew exactly where that was going. He pulled out his communicator and pinged Miller with the message: Got somethin' for you, gumshoe.
Wildcard
[ OOC: Ask me for a prompt, or feel free to see Alex wandering around in his new digs, or in his suit about to take a test trip out the airlock. He disappeared for 48 hours before this, so feel free to ask where the hell he's been. ]

nope! Totally fine
"Hey, Boss. Meant to grab you earlier but didn't want to miss the meetin'. You alright?"

He waves a hand off dismissively at the question and takes a drink of his coffee. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that?”
no subject
"I-- I've got a hell of a story, for ya, but I'm fine. Just wish I could tell you the hows and the whys of it. But uh - I remember six months more than I did a few days ago. Well a few days for you - it's felt like half a year, to me--"

"Thinking this place doesn't allow us to have very many hows or whys," Holden says and there's not quite resignation completely but an acceptance for the moment -- there are more pressing matters that they have to deal with. "You disappear a few days and show back up remembering more than you did before?" maybe he's looking a little bit doubtful -- maybe this place is playing a trick on Alex's mind or his mind.
no subject
"But it ain't - It wasn't a dream, boss. Felt as real as anythin, and I've got the scars to prove it. So maybe we - hell, I don't know, link back up to our old lives somehow. Or just get to remember new things..." He was getting more uncomfortable as he went, trying to reconcile his new memories with the fact that he didn't actually go anywhere.

There's plenty of consequences to what he's being told now. Holden doesn't doubt Alex but he doubts his own sanity, this place as if it's trying to play with their minds and leave them feeling unstable and off-kilter in some way. It certainly works at least on Holden. He's still not convinced that he hasn't been infected by the Protomolocule somehow.
"Nothing new that will help us out here, though, right?"
no subject
Alex fidgets a little, wetting his lips.
"Actually, boss, there's one thing. Though I - hell, I don't know if we'll ever find it, but -" He hesitated. He knew he was going to sound crazy, if Holden hadn't seen it. Hell, Holden hadn't even seen the ring.
He cleared his throat.
"There might be a way to get home. The uh - the protoshit? It made a gateway. A doorway. Something. Hell if I know what. And we - we opened more of them." He met Holden's eyes with an apologetic look. Sorry, hoss, he knew he sounded mad. "The protomolecule - whatever it is - has doors and links throughout - well, hell, I don't know. Ten thousand systems. If we can find a Ring, we might bee able to get back home."

The confusion spreads over his face as Alex starts to explain the way that he might be able to make progress in getting out of this godforsaken station.
"What?" Holden says, and he sets his coffee down. It's not that he needs Alex to repeat or further explain at least just yet. He exhales heavily as he leans back.
"How would we go about finding one?"
