[ That's a familiar tale. ]

If your philosophy is not in favor of tearing children away from their parents, I have to say I'm more inclined to agree with you. For what that's worth.

[ He watches as the water makes it way down the drain, and curses softly under his breath. It didn't drain fast enough. He sighs and gets back to work, rolling up his sleeve to try to keep it relatively clean as he reaches deeper into the drain. ]

The first time he said that to me, I thought it was complete nonsense. Not least of all because I thought that I needed to be angry to do anything. Not that it was difficult, I was angry all the time.

[ He still is, to be perfectly honest. But the fire at this point was more of a smoldering hot coal situation than the raging inferno of his youth. ]

It is easier to keep my wits about me when I don't let it take over.

[ It's so much easier to say these things to this complete stranger than it is to say it to Charles himself. Erik puts that thought aside. Probably forever. ]
