"Oh." He looks at her, a bit stricken, then glances at the dark water hovering over them ominously. "Right."

"Let's not--" he starts just as she's picking up the dumbbell and stops just as quickly, reaching out to stop the forward momentum before it pops her in the teeth. He slants her another look and tips his head toward the door. "Let's go, huh?"
