apollo

One | Outside the airlock, in the corridor
[ This could all go horribly wrong, sure, but Apollo is pretty firmly in the ‘glass half full’ portion of humanity. He isn’t quite so naïve to think that the plan will go as smoothly as they’d all like but it’s impossible to plan for every eventuality. That’s what he tells himself, at least. Repeatedly. And with so little information to go on, Apollo knows they’ve put together as much of a plan as possible for opening this particular door. Whatever will confront them on the other side is anyone’s guess. All they can do once it’s open is react as best they can.

And sure, the plan isn’t much but it’s better than nothing. Apollo refuses to be the guy who sits back and waits to be rescued, not when there could be so much beyond the door that could actually help them get home. Better to die boldly than live in fear, or something like that.

Because getting home is the objective, after all, and the only way they can get home is if they find the command deck. And seeing as the command deck isn’t on this side of the locked doors, it means it has to be beyond them. One of them. Somewhere. Maybe.

Apollo doesn’t do nervousness but there’s definitely some kind of strange flutter in his chest as he surveys the small crowd of helpers gathered by the airlock. All banding together for the collective mission of getting the hell out of here. All here to help.

That's something to take heart in, at least.

Summoning an encouraging smile, he grabs a spacesuit from the pile and turns brightly to the nearest volunteer. ]

Hey, thanks for helping out. Do you want a hand putting this thing on?

Two | Inside the airlock, by the door
[ Being out of his depth is normal for Apollo. Every damn day in the Authority they would throw themselves in to the unknown, generally making things up as soon as they hit the ground running – even when the fate of the world is in the balance. It’s a little reckless, sure. But luckily it’s a plan that’s worked out for Apollo so far (mostly). He hopes his luck isn’t about to run out today.

The door is there, looking just as normal as any other of the hundreds of locked doors around the station except for the little window set in to it and the room of blinking lights beyond. Apollo narrows his eyes as he approaches, sizing it up.

A day’s worth of indulgently sunbathing on the station’s hull has given Apollo as much charge as he’s going to get. Not his full reserve, far from it, but it’s something. With a flash of a smile and a warning wave of his hand to his partner in the airlock - stay back, his gesture says – he narrows his gaze on the door’s seams and unleashes a dazzling laser blast of concentrated solar energy.

Hope you engaged your spacesuit’s sunvisor is engaged, friend. ]

Three | Observation deck, recharging at various points in the day
[ Progress is slow – too slow for Apollo, whose entire life has been built around his capacity to simply obliterate everything in his path. Having to slowly, painstakingly, fight their way through a door isn’t something that he’s used to as they slowly, slowly, crawl through the long hours of work.

Every now and again, Apollo ducks away from the site of the airlock. He’s all too familiar now with the awful, bone-deep exhaustion that comes with attacking the door. The observation deck is the easiest and quickest way for him to recharge, and it’s here that he frequently retreats to recharge.

Come and find him here at random points throughout the eight hours, sitting in the biggest patch of sunlight he can find! ]
