the library( with the doors to the library finally open bring a small moment of-- almost joy to vanessa. it did little to relieve anything that had happened recently, the disease and the disappearance of a friend, but it certainly provided her with new possibilities. and familiarity.
the first few days see her just exploring the place, seeing what exists. she's drawn to the physical books and though, after discussions, vanessa learns of being able to access the library in a digital format it isn't the same to her. holding a book, the smell of the pages, particularly the age of some of them--
later, as vanessa begins to actually read some of the selection, her choices remain with things familiar to her. the library is expansive, many new things to explore and read, but for the moment she wants something familiar. poetry. though stories are enjoyable she's always found a stronger connection to poetry, to their sentiments.
there's one novel that does appear in her selections, though it's one that vanessa had yet to dare to open. the picture of dorian gray. it's something that she looks at with both bemusement and confusion, curiosity prickling at her. she knew the man -- dated him briefly, though the book had been published before she'd met him. she isn't certain if she wants to read it or not )observation deck( the observation deck had become a familiar place, almost comforting in how peaceful it felt. the stars are slowly becoming less concerning. though the dangers of space are still a frightening concept it's easy to distract herself from them. looking at the stars, as strange a distraction as it may seem helps. vanessa had never really been one for spending long periods of time staring at the stars before, knowing little of the constellations, but these are equally unknown.
on some of the occasions, a book will have been sneaked from the library with her. some days it's poetry, vanessa sat by the window as she reads, other days she's opted for something more factual, finding a book on earth's solar system. all vanessa knows is what she has learned from her friends here and though little of the book is making sense there are small parts that she understands, some that are interesting. perhaps she's reading the wrong thing but she'd like to know more )wildcard( have something different that you'd like in the library/a different location? leave me a comment or pm and we'll set something up. vanessa also frequently visits the chapel and the plant area. being post-event (stage 4) vanessa will be left with tinges of black on her left hand and a blackened scar that may be noticable on the back of her neck )

the library
As soon as Gundam feels confident his extremities have healed enough to not abruptly fall or snap off he's out of his room. It's probably unwise to do anything too physically demanding... but while out he had heard passing rumors.
A once forbidden labyrinth of knowledge thought to be locked away for all eternity. It's array of taboo texts now accessible to the masses! He can barely contain his excitement upon entering.]
...most impressive!
[Gundam can always appreciate a library!! --the suggested quietness of them not as much.
Sorry to disturb you Vanessa.]

Isn't it?
( she offers him a smile, impressed herself with this library. she's always loved books, reading, libraries-- there's much about them for her to love )
I'm glad that we have access to it.
library;
he doesn't recognize any of the titles ㅡ that hardly matters, of course. the station, whatever it's origins, comes from some place well beyond his time. his universe.
even so, there is something thrilling about the library. about the knowledge that has been opened up to him, an opportunity to learn. to do something other than stew.
he feels her before he sees her, gaze lifting at her approach. ]
Ms. Ives, [ he dips his head slightly in greeting, mouth quirking in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it smile. ]

Mr Ren. It seems that we've finally located it.
( they'd began their search so long ago )

[ there'd been a bristle of irritation when he'd realized it had been so close, well within reach, only to have the victory snatched from him by someone else. the irritation had simmered since then, replaced by curiosity ㅡ possibly even some awe. ]
Have you been here long?

( and she would very happily be there a few more. and on subsequent days. it wasn't simply that vanessa enjoyed reading but that there was much to discover and learn -- books that hadn't existed in her time, knowledge of the future, perhaps even things relating to where they were. she had ideas )
I'm not certain I can say how I expected it to look.
( the size of it, the decoration -- the books. vanessa was used to physical, paper books but considering when they were-- physical copies were natural but perhaps not to this environment when so much was not )

he pulls back from the display. ] Learning what makes this place unique.

( and she's certainly enjoyed the surprise, finding it a little refreshing. whilst there is still so much that is new vanessa can't say that she's against the discovery. it would be nice if certain things were easier but at the same time it has given her much to focus on. with so many strange things she has needed to learn )
Though there is still much that I have to do in that respect.

[ admittedly, he's coming at this from a point of bias. digital databases are not quite so alien to him as they must seem to her. ]
Convenient too, in their way. There's a reason digital technology supplanted printed media so quickly.

( his confidence in her abilities tugs out a smile and, as much as she finds it all confusing, a little terrifying, she has so far been open to trying to learn what she can. that includes this, even if she is heavily biased towards her beloved physical books )
Perhaps then you could give me a demonstration of how I may use it?

[ he might regret the offer, later, if only because he's so accustomed to using this sort of technology that he isn't sure where to begin. he'll try, though, for her sake.
for her, though, he'll make the attempt. ]

( vanessa offers him a smile, stepping closer to him )
I'd like to think that I'm familiar enough with being able to contact someone now. How would I begin being able to locate a book?
