Hello.

As I'm certain you all are aware, a roster has been sent to each of our devices. Given that this is yet another item on a growing list to be examined by us all, I believe it's important for each of us to come together to discuss any possible concerns or ideas that may require teamwork.

@PALPATINE and I earlier discussed the possibility of a non-compulsory meeting to sort through these issues. We agreed it would be in our best interests.

If you're inclined, please come to the Mess Hall at 19:00 in three day's time.

[He sounds relieved that she's agreeing with him about that, anyway. Even if the call is literally coming from inside the station, there's nobody they know of to make said call. And that freaks him out?? More than he'd like to admit.]

There's a lot of, um, research and development stuff listed there. It really makes me wonder what the original point of this station was... and why we were brought here in the first place.

I mean, if it was a prison, research and developments make sense, right? [ oh. that smile... doesn't look like she's actually very happy. ] You have to find people for your experiments. Haha.

[ yeah, she doesn't like the idea of an experimental sci-fi jail any more than anyone else does. ]

[Well, that relief is gone as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by a tight tension in his shoulders.]

Yeah. But... I don't know about it being a prison, necessarily? There's no roster for inmates. A warden could just be someone for, I don't know, if somebody does something to warrant it. A precaution by the people who were in charge.

[He's looking at his shoes.]

People could volunteer for those kinds of things, too.

There wasn't a roster for normal residents, either. Just people with titles.

[ but she's not actually trying to go that hard. she crosses her arms, frowns - looks down to the ground. ]

[Now that he's looking at his shoes, it's much easier to ignore her eyeball wings. But that's not polite, so he forces himself to resume eye contact. With her face.]

In any case, I agree with what you said before. We don't need somebody who wants power to be in control right now.

[And then he tries for a smile, tries to lighten the mood.]

Yeah, that's true. I guess even if someone did try to take over it'd be. Kind of sad? Like, all they'd get is a broken pool and the bar.

[He blurts it out before he can stop himself, cheeks flushing a light pink with embarrassment.]

[ she doesn't sound too torn up over it, though. she quiets down, letting the other people in the town hall speak up - but she does sidle over a bit. right where hinata can't really avoid her. ]

I'm Venus. [ she hesitates for a moment before offering a hand and a smile. ] I don't think we've really met yet?

[He can't... really be surprised by her sidling up next to him. Like he said, the wings really stand out and make her hard to miss. But he is a little surprised that she came back to talk to him, after all. He's just... not used to people being friendly to him?

But he smiles, makes a conscious effort to meet her eyes, and takes her offered handshake.]

I don't think so... I'm Hajime Hinata. It's nice to meet you.

[She'll probably recognize his name from the network, though his username is reversed as hinatahajime.]

Hinata... Oh! You posted on the network earlier, right? [ she gives an excited little wave, biting her bottom lip. god, what a dork. ] I'm Venus! Um, Aphrodite on the network. I was- I talked to you about that school you like, right?

[ venus, that is almost literally the worst way to describe your conversation possible. ]

Yeah, I remember. You're the, um, Harvard student, right?

Haha! Oh my god. No way? [ but she doesn't seem upset about the misunderstanding, at least. ] You have to be, like, crazy smart to go there? Maybe not like your school, but it's still like. Way smarter than I could ever possibly be.

[ she also kind of hates that? but at least it's not half as bad as his school. like, wow. ]

[ she's not the first devil to have wings. maybe the first to keep them this long, though. ]

{oooh my god it moves. it's not just a weird effect or something, it actually moves.

Hajime makes a little deflated noise.]

Yeah, you, um... said something like that when we were texting.

[Again, he kind of just... looks to the wings again.]

[ she doesn't even look. upset?? just confused. a look that's being reflected off approximately one (1) metric fuckload of eyes in her wings. ]

[They're all looking at him. He can't help but shrink back a little, even as he's trying to be cool and confident and. polite.

W-Well, I mean... usually when people say stuff like that, they're, you know...

[ now that she notices - his movement back, the taken aback look in his eyes. she brings her wings just a little bit back, gently pressing them together behind her back. ]

Really? Huh. [ that's. so weird to imagine?? ] Back home, saying that kind of thing was a good way to get people trying to kill you. Or at least to beat the devil out of you? I guess that sort of depends on how nice they were. Either way people didn't really lie about that kind of thing.

[Shouldn't you be a little more cautious just telling strangers about this, then...?

He's keeping that thought to himself, relaxing a little once the gaze of the wings isn't quite so focused on him. He's just not used to being the center of attention, much less from some eyeball-covered wings.]

Don't be? Haha. It's not like they can do anything now. [ she switches over easily to the new topic, smiling wide and beginning to ramble. ] And actually, they make it way easier? I've always been really clumsy, you know? So I used to trip over things all the time, or bump into people, or just lose my balance. But now I have another set of arms to just... sort of stop myself with? It makes everything so much nicer. I don't know how I really walked around without these.
