Hello.

Following @gallowsCalibrator's uploading of the replicator manual, I've decided to see what I can't do to amend their current issues.

If you're interested in lending your hand or have a reasonably equivalent understanding of technology and mechanical work, I'll be available in the mess hall intermittently until they're repaired.

[ OOC: The replicators will take AROUND THREE (3) WEEKS to fix. That means that, as of 6/29, daily work will complete its repairs around 7/20. This is provided new events don't set them back. Additionally, here are the further specifications from the mods:

A. They need several, clever individuals to fix and suss out the mechanical beasts with the manual. If your character has somewhat technologically equivalent mechanical skills (like fixing a computer or other electronics), this'd be aces.

B. If your character wants to help but isn't on the necessary technological and mechanical level, then please feel free to enter The Board of Taste-Testers. Or, I guess, get in the way more than help lol.

C. If your character is down for neither of these things and just wants to peep what they're up to or provide some encouragement or hassle them? Go for it. The Station is your... Oyster. Space oyster.

D. The results after making repairs will be the following: better overall flavor (though it won't be perfect), texture restoration (though, it will always lack the perfect texture and will always be a little grey), and the alcohol will taste less like jet fuel and more like some lower shelf brews.

[With the music finally gone, 9S could get back to work on the replicators. He wasn't much of an R&D person himself, but he could do basic repairs without a manual, and his capabilities only rose when he had one. He was fiddling with his own replicator, but took a small break to see how the rest of their efforts were going.

He lets out a thoughtful noise, poking his head into Tatsuya's business.]

I can double check if you want?

[ Tatsuya looks up with a start. He hadn't realized anyone was close enough to hear him— he'd been pretty absorbed in what he was doing. But he nods at the question, a serious look on his face. ]

Could you? That would make this easier.

Yeah! Let's see... [9S pokes his head inside and reaches in to fiddle around. It's mostly minor adjustments, a few bolts given an extra turn here and there, and 9S double checking to make sure everything everything was moving (or not) as it should. Tatsuya really knew what he was doing, and 9S was thoroughly impressed.

He finally leans back, tapping at a specific piece in general.]

It looks like this one's cracked at the base... Do we have any replacement parts?

[ Tatsuya taps his chin, considering. ]

I'll have to go check... I know I don't have anything close by. Maybe we can jury-rig a workaround until I can check and make sure. It wouldn't be good for the long-term obviously, but as a temporary measure....

What's a "jury-rig"? [9S gives Tatsuya a dubious look, before returning his attention to the piece.]

We might be able to fuse the crack shut if we apply some heat. It's not perfect, but it'll probably work for now?

[ Tatsuya wobbles his hand back and forth. ]

...makeshift improvisational thing. A temporary fix, usually. I think that what you suggested should work for now.

Oh, that's how we fix most things back home? Unless it's specifically YoRHa tech, you just sort of have to find parts. Or you know, break a few machines?

[But hey, he's learned something new today. Now to get back to the problem at hand.]

Now we just need a way to heat this up. Any ideas? I haven't seen any matches lying around.

[ There's an interested lilt to his voice, but he turns his attention to the task they're supposed to be focusing on— that he is focused on, for the most part. ]

I've got a lighter with me... I don't use it very often, so it should still have plenty of fuel.

[9S nods, holding his hand out.]

That should work. You know, having combustibles on board is pretty dangerous.

Oh, you're an android?

[ THAT'S SO COOL? ]

As for the lighter.... I know that. But it's precious to me.

That's me, 100% artificial lifeform.

[9S pulls back his hand, giving Tatsuya an uncertain look.]

Uh, would you rather do it? I mean, if it's that important to you...

[ Tatsuya shrugs slightly. ]

You can do it, I didn't get the impression you were going to run off with my lighter.

[ Also, he'd totally stop 9S if he did try. ]

Alright, if you're sure...

[With no particular reason for why he's putting so much skepticism into his own trustworthiness, 9S takes the lighter and opens the cap. When flames don't just spontaneously appear, he looks back at Tatsuya.]

Uuhh...I hate to break this to you, but I think it's out of fuel.

[ Tatsuya blinks at him for a moment, then snaps his fingers as understanding lights up his features. ]

You've never used a lighter before, huh?

[ He clicks the thumbwheel and sparks the zippo. ]

I've never really had any reason too... [9S starts, but then his eyes light up with the flame.]

Huh? Oh, there's a mechanism there... Of course! I guess it's safer that way, huh?

[ Tatsuya nods slightly. ]

Yeah, otherwise it'd be too easy to set things on fire. Especially since it unlatches pretty easily.

No kidding... And a fire in an enclosed space like this could lead to an explosion pretty easily.

[But he already said something like that, didn't he? Well, 9S will just go ahead and gently take the lighter now, and do his best to patch up the part in question. After a couple of minutes he hands the device back, and shows Tatsuya his handwork. It's sufficient.] How's that?
