Mess Hall;
[For Oswin, being here is better than where she was before. It was disorienting at first, maybe, and she can't exactly get past the fact that people think she's someone else. But she's able to ignore all that in favor of having a proper body and freedom again. A large part of her is terrified that none of this is real and she's just projecting whatever imaginary situation she can to make her feel better about her predicament back on the dalek asylum. But if this is all just pretend, she's got to give herself credit for having one hell of an imagination.
She's so taken with existing that she's likely one of the only people who seem excited by the fabricators. The food is rubbish and that's a bit disappointing, but she's absolutely fascinated by the fact they exist at all. A week or two in to her stay, and they're still not old. She gladly bides plenty of time in the mess hall, eating a variety of odd choices that the fabricator provides her.
Each and every visit to the mess hall, she looks for someone that's sitting alone. She slides in the seat across from them, flashing a dimpled grin as she does.]
You haven't heard of these things giving out milk or eggs, have you?
Pool;
[With someone as high energy as she is, just walking around exploring isn't really enough. She's incredibly grateful that there's a gym here, one that comes with a pool. She doesn't exactly have the right dress for swimming here with her, but she's shameless enough that she has no problem stripping out of her jumpsuit and diving right on in to swim around. She mostly takes to swimming underwater, so when she pops up she's surprised to see that she isn't alone. Someone else is there, likely considering swimming as well.
Maybe.
It's also possible they're just enjoying the view, not that she can blame them. She's positive she looks like a majestic mermaid right about now.]
Bit of a riddle for you. How do sharks mate?
[Whether this is a way for her to warm someone up to swimming or she's just trying to make conversation is yet to be seen. But judging from the lazy way she swims over to the edge of the pool, it's clear that she's in no way concerned about having company.]
Hallways;
Day ten. Morale still seems to be low after what is tragically referred to as the "music incident". As the new entertainment manager, priority should be made to improving the sort of music this lot is subjected to by force.
[Oswin talks into her wrist piece device as she navigates the hallways. She's sightseeing, looking for areas of improvement on the station that she can help with given their current lack of supplies. She talks while walking, ducking and dodging around people that are in her path. She'll even record her mission log in the lifts or standing out in the crew quarter areas on any deck.
She seems fascinated with every nook and cranny of the place, sometimes stopping to record her thoughts and feelings on the ancient tech or the brilliant architecture. If she's approached mid-recording, she'll hold up her free hand and make you wait until she's finished.]
Wildcard;
[If there's something we've discussed potentially doing, it can happen here! If you'd like to run into Oswin and would like a starter written for you, PM or reach out at
porgs.]

mess hall
Sleeping was very easy for about 24 hours and then very difficult after that on account of nasty dreams. The VR room is a stage 1 hazard event on the hierarchy of shut-in detritus hell pits. Hinata is valiantly blocking progress to stage 2, and Erika knows she'll have to thank him somehow once her embarrassment gets over itself. Taking herself to the mess hall instead of requiring an escort and some encouragement to eat is...it's something? It's half of a thank-you. Or a quarter or an eighth.
Food's better than it used to be. Apparently not drugged anymore? That's, uh, that's cool. Erika finds a quiet spot, sits down, and tunes out the other presences in the room to kill the creeping anxiety.
And then someone is THERE and she physically jolts a little, blinking up with wide eyes that catch on Oswin for a moment then skip away nervously and come back and just. Stay there.
She does not...
...recognize you...]
Mm. I. [Well fuck it all up, that was a direct question. Searching...searching...] Huh? [That's a stall, not an answer! Get it together, brain!]

Do you know if the fabricators are capable of giving out proper food? Things like milk and eggs?
[She doesn't elaborate on a reason why beyond simply wanting them yet. She figures it's probably not the best first impression to just start blurting on about soufflés and needing to try making one to feel safe and at home. It'll make her look completely nutters, and she is trying really hard not to do that here.
Assuming any of this is real, anyway.]

She locates the pieces of her resolve lying somewhere along the bottom of herself, and joins them together into something she can throw around her shoulders. There's a time limit before it falls apart again, but until then - shut the door, cork the bottle, stay at length. Breathe in, and go.]
...I don't cook. So I haven't tried. [She waves her utensil a little, voice going kind of flat.] But, even with the improvements lately, they don't quite hit the mark. So. Probably not close enough, for cooking, if they're not chemically identical.
[...She drops eye contact after that, for a decent few seconds.]

Have you never tried cooking before?
[Oswin rests her chin in the palm of her hand, and rests her elbow on the table. Worrying about eating her food is forgotten for the moment. She's more interested in pulling her new friend a little more out of her shell.]

[stabs her food with her fork. gently.]
Do we...have facilities for that here?
