( after his initial arrival, jim had mostly been laying low. between the music and a general sense of unease, he'd gotten the feeling that he'd arrived in the middle of some serious shit and he hadn't wanted to get in the way. typically, he would have been the one in the center of it all, making the mess bigger but this was too big an unknown and he hadn't wanted to hurt anyone.
but, with things settling, jim was on a mission to figure this place out. sure, maybe stopping at the bar, a place he's been a few times, wasn't the best place to focus himself but everyone needed a drink sometimes and he thinks he's got a good reason. he had died. he'd been stricken with radiation poisoning and he'd said his goodbyes and he'd died.
but here he was, alive and in one piece. he's actually been wondering if maybe he shouldn't find someone with some medical training to check him out since he's not sure if radiation lingers after you die.
but for now, he's going to have a drink and kick his feet up on the stool beside his. he's going to take some comfort in being alive even if he's far away from where he needs to be. )
( he was always going to find himself here. it had taken a little longer than expected but the minute jim steps foot on the bridge, he lets go of a breath that he hadn't realized he was holding. this isn't his ship and he's not in charge but he feels like he should be here. there's no chair for him to sit in but the stations lining the area are familiar. he runs his hands over them and then slips into one, eyeing the screen quietly.
he reaches out and touches it but nothing happens. he tries it again but again, nothing happens. )
Shoddy craftsmanship.
( but, nothing about this station is very well put together. that she's staying afloat at all is a godsend because every time jim walks by the observation area and sees the planet below, he remembers the enterprise's almost plunge to earth because of the gravity. )
Kind of don't want to repeat that again.
( jim's minding his own business when somethings jerks him backwards. a loud sound of tearing echoes off the walls and before jim can really stop it, the stupid jumpsuit he's wearing is ripped from side to the small of his back.
he stares at the wall, offended, and just notices a protruding edge he's apparently caught the cheap fabric on and, with minimal strength needed, had ripped a gaping hole in the thing. )
Perfect.
( sighing, he continues onto his own room where he kicks the door almost all the way closed and strips off the top half of the jumpsuit to look at it. was he supposed to walk around like this now? even starfleet uniforms were sturdier than this. )
( if you wanna do something else, feel free or hit me up at
spoonishly for plotting. )

( jim's pretty sure the threat's empty so he's now considering how he could possibly make this happen. )
Don't want everyone who bitches about the quality of the alcohol to spit your name in the next breath? There are worse things to be memorable for.

( no one was leaving unless you took the damn stupid chance at breathing in space and this booze was shit. the only thing that miller had accomplished was getting here. )
Looks like you have some space to be infamous.

That's a nice change, pal. [ things not being miller's fault, that is. ] Well, I'm gonna clear out, famous or not. I've overstayed my welcome as a sober individual.
[ he puts both hands on the bar and pushes himself up in a slow arc to stand. some things are just sacred, jim. ]

( he smirks up at miller and gives a quick salute to send him off. )
I look forward to coming to your bar a lot over the next while.
