[ Kanan makes his way into the nearest quiet room from where he woke up - this place feels all wrong to him, and he's not sure why. Meditation, though - that's what he needs. He needs to calm himself, center himself, and - all unknowing - he chooses the chapel to do so.
Settling in, legs tucked under him on the floor, he takes a few deep breaths, and then reaches out - to the web of energy that connects all life - and finds -
Well, he finds Ezra quickly enough, their bond as strong as it ever is, and he's nearby, Kanan can tell, and that's reassuring. But the others...
Usually, no matter how far apart they are, on opposite ends of the galaxy even, Kanan can reach out through the Force and sense his family. He can find Sabine and Zeb and Hera (not a day has gone by in almost ten years that he hasn't been able to sense Hera) but today... today they're gone, and it distresses him. He doesn't allow himself to panic, but it unmoors him a little, weakens his concentration.
Nonetheless, he can certainly sense anyone who approaches him. ]
I don't suppose you can tell me who's responsible for bringing us here?
[ B; Mess hall ]
[ Kanan is at least good enough at following his nose to make his way to where most of the food is kept. Of course, that doesn't mean the food is any good, or edible for him. Or that he can figure out what it even is, given that he's blind and therefore has to rely on his other senses. ]
Okay, just answer me one question: is there something here other than protein milk and ration bars?
[ C; wildcard ]
[ Got another idea? Toss me a prompt or PM me your idea so we can hash something out! ]

It isn't only me, no one can tell you that. [ if she sounds defensive, well. her hand immediately goes to the kyber crystal hidden under her many layers of clothing, though it probably looks to him like she's merely bracing a palm against her chest in indignation. ] I can only suggest you consume all that the network postings and the documents on the Bridge have to offer you, otherwise asking everyone you cross that question will net you zero positive results.
no subject
I meant no offense, sorry. I haven't quite figured out how to access all the available information, and I find it's sometimes more constructive to discuss options with another person, anyway.
[ There is something unusual about this woman's presence in the Force, something he can't quite put his finger on yet, if only because his mind doesn't immediately go to she's wearing a kyber crystal around her neck. Give him a minute, he'll probably figure it out. ]
no subject
It's alright. Are you freshly arrived?
[ her tone holds more tolerance this time around, she does want to help the people here. it just takes a moment to remember she should be polite for that part sometimes. ]
no subject
[ Now he turns, giving her a lopsided sort of smile beneath the mask that's covering his eyes. ]
I'm Kanan Jarrus.
no subject
Jyn Erso. [ what gave him away? other than his q&a session? ] The jumpsuit, for one.
no subject
[ He pauses for a brief moment. ]
It's not like, bright magenta or anything, is it?
no subject
But rest assured, it is quite hideous.
no subject
[ He gives her a little smile. ]
Can I ask... have you got... a crystal on you somewhere?
[ Because seriously, that niggling in the back of his mind is not going away, and it started when she walked in. ]
no subject
[ which is a strange thing to say, she thinks, at least before his rejoinder. how would he know about her crystal, unless- ]
Are you one with the Force? [ taking a leap of faith, she digs a hand under her layers and produces the kyber crystal tied around her throat. ] It was my mother's.

chapel
but it offers quiet, and a place for peace. maybe it's fortunate that Kanan can't see he's wearing his flightsuit, instead of the standard white station jumpsuit.
hands folded, he leans forward to rest his elbows on his knees. ]
No. [ he replies, after a pause - at the question. likely not the answer that Kanan is hoping to hear, but it's the only one he has. ]
Nobody can answer that one, sorry.
no subject
[ But there's a slight smile on his lips, anyway - he's not demanding, or angry or anything. He was asking mostly out of curiosity. ]
Are there no working hypotheses?
no subject
Couple a different ones. Popular theory is that something terrible happened to the crew aboard this station, before we were brought onboard. The video we found in the command center seems to imply that they were running some kind of tests.
no subject
[ Kanan smiles faintly and shrugs. Ah well. He's had worse days. ]
I'm Kanan Jarrus, by the way.
no subject
[ just you wait until you start turning into a metal statue, Kanan. or fall through a door and get trapped in it. or -
Bodhi smiles and moves to hold his hand out to shake, but realizes his mistake quickly. he's wearing a mask for a reason. so he lets it hang there awkwardly in the air, and moves the adjust the cuff of his sleeve around the area that's still metallic. ]
Bodhi. Bodhi Rook.

Nice to meet you. So, are you from the incredibly-literally-named planet Earth as well?
no subject
[ he's silent, for a moment. thinking of home. force, he misses it. ]
I'm from Jedha. I wouldn't be surprised if you've never heard of it, most of everyone I've met seems to be from Earth or Mars.
no subject
I've definitely heard of Jedha.
[ Anyone raised in the Jedi Order has heard of Jedha - one of the oldest and most sacred planets to the Jedi. ]
Never been, though. I hear the temples are impressive.

mess hall
simple. routine. keeping the face of his sister out of his head.
so, he's not exactly expecting a question let alone a question about food. )
There's swill that they're trying to call alcohol. Might wash down those ration bars a little better than your milk.
( or maybe not. )
no subject
I mean it just figures, stranded on an abandoned space station in orbit around an unknown planet but whoever tossed us here happened to leave behind booze. If I still went in for that sort of thing I'd be seriously tempted right about now.
[ But alcohol is a depressant, and it would muddle his senses, make his connection to the Force fuzzier than he wants. And Ezra is here. He has to set an example for his apprentice. And even though Hera isn't here, he still can't make himself do anything she'd seriously disapprove of. ]
But I've lived off worse before.
[ He can deal with ration bars. He's survived on dumpster diving more than once. ]
I'm Kanan Jarrus. [ And he offers a hand to shake, pretty confident despite the mask covering his eyes. ]
no subject
( more shitty fucking alcohol for him, then. it tasted like piss but it got the job done if you drank enough of it. )
Kovacs.
( he reaches up and gives his hand a quick shake before settling back down, eyes on kanan and the mask covering his face. and, because he's kovacs, he bluntly asks: )
What's with the mask? Aesthetic choice or something you actually need?
no subject
Can it be a little of both? I mean, I am blind, so it protects my eyes - my blink reflex is no good anymore. But it also spares innocent strangers like you the need to look at the scars.
no subject
( well, that was a label that no one applied to him anymore. he was just going to chalk up that shitty description to the fact that the guy couldn't see. )
Sure, that's me. Innocent as fucking snow. How'd that happen with your eyes, then?
no subject
You sure don't waste any time with the personal questions, do you?
[ He looks slightly amused. Most people he interacts with are pretty gunshy about bringing up his disability, and keep their questions to themselves out of fear of coming across as impolite. ]
It's a long story, but suffice it to say a bad guy tried to kill me, and missed.
no subject
( and he figures if people don't want to answer, they won't. if that happens, he's never been one to excessively push either because what the fuck ever, keep your secrets. )
And they can't fix that shit where you're from? No tech?
( bummer. )
no subject
There's tech, if you have the money.
[ Which he doesn't, and also the Empire controls that stuff (getting it from the black market and untraceable by the Empire is even more difficult and expensive), and and and...
Basically It's Complicated, and also there are some personal issues involved that he's not about to get into with a total stranger, because, well. Personal. So Kanan shrugs again and leaves it at "money" because it's as good a reason as any. ]
What about your world? I'm told a lot of the people on this space station aren't used to space travel.
