you gotta fight for your right to party

» WHO? all ya'll!
» WHEN? sometime after the 15th
» WHERE? everywhere
» WHAT? house party!
» WARNINGS? i'd say blanket warning for language, maybe light violence, anything else, i'll update.

[ jim kirk wasn't the captain of this station. he wasn't even a ranking officer but he knows enough about people to know that, if you put them through the wringer over and over again, they're going to break without some sort of downtime. and jim's not about to be on a station where everyone's breaking down. no, he hadn't come back from death to die again.

so, he goes back to his roots. he goes back to the days where he'd spent all of his time in bars, hitting on pretty girls and boys, and getting into fights. maybe possibly they can cross out fights tonight but the rest of the stuff? nah, jim wants it all.

he trawls his way through the station to see what they have, first of all. and then he gets to work. the replicators don't serve great booze but it's booze nonetheless and he gets those flowing, filling bottles and glasses and sliding them out for anyone to have. he fiddles with the lights in the bar to make it more appropriate and even asks this new ai on board for some music. if that doesn't work, everyone's just going to be treat to him singing.

then, he pulls out chairs and benches from the rooms and lines the halls. he wants everyone to be together, to talk to each other and the halls seem like the most well traveled place. he draws signs that lead people to the pool where he's tossed a bunch of small things in to take the place of beach balls and toys. he even suggests chicken fights because who can resist a good chicken fight?

is it sacrilegious to see up makeshift twister in the chapel? oh well because that's where it is. dancing, he decides, is best for observation deck so he asks for a little more music filtered in there because who wouldn't want to dance with that beautiful backdrop?

on the command deck, jim rigs up some lights, making it more apt for a party and sets up a few tables with cards and other random things to signify money. if people want to do some gambling, lose their shirts, jim's not going to stop you. he prefers strip poker, really, but there are youngsters around so behave. somewhat. ringing the room, he finds spots to set up arm wrestling tables because who doesn't want to show off their strength? not jim, he knows so many people would beat him but maybe other people want to grab the title of 'strongest on the station.' jim will make you a medal and everything.

he wants to do something with the library but he doesn't want to wreck it. so, poetry readings. there's no mic but he does set up a chair to act as a stage and even pushes various other chairs around it to act as an audience. don't get too wild in here. the nonexistent librarian won't like it.

lastly, he finds himself in the hangar. there are shuttles in there that he doesn't want to break but it's a big space so fuck it, he goes for a fight club type atmosphere. people need to get the tension out somehow and while fucking likes bunnies would be ideal, asking for an orgy tonight would be too much. so, he draws chalk outlines of various rings for various different matches. he makes rules that say this isn't till the death, be fair, no hitting below the belt and, if jim were to get into the ring, you weren't allowed to mess up his hair.

he was the party organizer, he got to make the rules!

once everything seemed to be set up, he just started knocking on doors at random to get people out of their rooms and out into the open. this station was stupid but he wasn't going to let things fall apart without a fight. ]

[ it's a party and it's open for everyone!! post your tl's, tag around to others and just enjoy yourself. there's no sinister motive here except getting that sweet, sweet cr. if you want to wildcard something being at the party, plz feel free to do that within reason, of course! hit me up at [plurk.com profile] spoonishly for questions/plotting! ]

How nice to know that not even other Grineer can stand Vay Hek’s screeching. The Operator wouldn’t even mind him being here if they got to watch him summarily shoved out an airlock. His jowelly face must look hilarious asphyxiating.

As for Regor’s answer about the Tenno, it's disappointing, but predictable. The Operator ignores the implicit question is his follow-up commentary, instead making a show of widening their eyes in fabricated astonishment.

“So you have seen one. What did it look like? Did it attack you?”

Oh, no one could stand Vay Hek. Not even when he had more squishy parts and vocal control, he was always the authority figure you looked to and said... 'How in the Void did you get up there? Was it an accident? Do you even know where you are?? Do the Queens know you're up there???'

Or rather thought it, made some sideways remark about it, and then went back to being actually productive, grumbling about it to yourself for several intervals.

"They are ugly, their color palettes are atrocious, and they killed everything I loved. They are horrible lizards that will find whatever organ pumps your blood and stomp on it."

He realized belatedly that he'd leaned in closer with every statement, until he was looming over the miniature human, inches away from their face. He backed off with a heavy sigh. "All my tubemen, gone. Species might be doomed too. Never love anything because it's pointless and you'll end up losing your kidneys."

Life was HORRIBLE.

“They sound very fearsome,” the Operator says, pursing their lips to keep from smiling even as their enemy looms over them. They feel no remorse or pity listening to Regor bemoan his circumstances and in fact, are quite entertained by it. He was, after all, a madman begetting other madmen and the destruction of his creations had been a favor to the galaxy.

If he appears distressed recounting the events now, the only regret they feel is that they didn’t put an end to his miserable existence when they had the chance. If they had killed him, he wouldn't be here to lament his Tubemen; he'd have joined them in oblivion.

But again, not much chance of that in this form, so they make due with tormenting him more subtly. Perhaps if they’re lucky, they’ll needle him into drinking to death.

“Were your Tubemen complete when the Tenno killed them? Or were you still working on them?"

"Not fearsome. Fearful. Frightened. They think they're the most terrifying things in technocyte, but they can't stand the idea of something better than them." Someone better than them. Namely, himself.

"Nothing's ever done. Going to make them better. Make them again. Make something new." He ran a metal finger around the rim of an empty glass, producing a quiet, high-pitched scratching noise. "No lab here, but subjects, oh yes, lots of those. Maybe even interesting ones. Not you, though," he gestured casually in the little human's direction, nearly smacking them in the face by accident.

"Unless you have anything special hiding under that generic-looking exterior. Where did you say you were from again?" He's forgotten.

[The Operator has to bite back their annoyance at Regor’s insistence that they killed his Tubemen because they were afraid. They’d killed them because it was necessary. Because the Lotus has guided them to. Fear had nothing to do with it.

They flinch slightly when he almost hits them and it’s easy to pretend they’re frowning at that rather than his words.]

I already told you, I don’t know. [If Regor won’t flatter their ego, maybe they can at least learn more about his current plans.] What kind of subjects are you thinking about?

"I wish I knew," he mutters darkly. "This place is supposed to be interesting! But... just look at them," he gestures again, more expansively, indicating the entire bar. "Humans. This station's drawn from dozens of dimensions, and the strangest it's come up with is all shaped like humans. Even the one with wings looks like a human most of the time!" Admittedly, that had been a surprise, and he still wanted to find out how that one worked. He'd been otherwise occupied with self-surgery at the time.

"All the infinite variation of time and space and it just keeps grabbing humans. There's weirder stuff in the Origin System alone. But still, there might be something salvageable," he sighs heavily. "New subspecies, new adaptations, new raw materials. But if something's worth my time here, it's hiding far too well. Don't appreciate that at all." Maybe it was deliberate. Some safety mechanism to make sure the space station held together. Or maybe it was just to spite him specifically.
