Hello.

As I'm certain you all are aware, a roster has been sent to each of our devices. Given that this is yet another item on a growing list to be examined by us all, I believe it's important for each of us to come together to discuss any possible concerns or ideas that may require teamwork.

@PALPATINE and I earlier discussed the possibility of a non-compulsory meeting to sort through these issues. We agreed it would be in our best interests.

If you're inclined, please come to the Mess Hall at 19:00 in three day's time.

[Hearing a familiar voice come from behind her, Karen quickly sits down at the edge of her seat and smiles to herself. A hand goes up to tuck some hair behind her ear, allowing her a little more time not to look too eager. It also allows the crowd to start picking up the conversation as others speak up, and Karen slides back in her seat and turns to look back at him.]

I appreciate the offer.

[Now she directs a smile at him, grateful for his help.]

[ frank overhears the conversation to his left and turns to take in amos. ...and that giant fuck-off gun. it's kind of an adoring look honestly before he remembers to tune back in. he pops over karen's shoulder to interject. ]

Yeah, bud. When do we start?

[ he narrows his eyes, not even noticing he's effectively "cockblocking" here. he's taking everything at face value including his own interest in learning space ship shit after telling the whole crew he's not a nERD. ]

[ Well now, see, that's funny. Amos doesn't remember asking Frank, or even talking to him, but as soon as Karen responded to him, so did Frank. Amos almost says it again, something about how he's not looking to step out with Frank's girl, but there are times and places for these conversations, and this one definitely isn't. Naomi would have his hide, and Prax is still standing close.

Frank might have a dog now, but to Amos it looks like he's the one pissing all over his territory, right now. ]

Any time. Either of you got one of these sealant guns?

[Karen, thankfully, is completely oblivious to any pissing contest that may or may not be going on right now. She's so excited by the prospect of learning something useful that she's all smiles, even with Frank interrupting and barging in for the lessons. She doesn't mind him learning along with her, so she glances to him with a conspiratorial our complaining finally paid off look.

Then Amos has to go and ask a question that makes her smile abruptly fade.]

No, but I can try to find one for us to share.

[ if karen is clueless about what's going on, frank is double. he even offers amos an easy smile at the other man's acquiescence. he knows they got off on the wrong foot, a little, but since then frank has been spending a lot of time with alex (and recently prax) - he knows amos isn't as emotionless as he seems to think. ]

I've got one, actually. [ he shrugs as he tosses karen a look back like soRRY I DIDN'T TELL U FAM ]

[ The thing about Amos is that he moves on from weird situations very fast. He didn't hold Holden putting a gun to his head against him, moved on from his multiple fights with Alex, with Miller, just as easily as he took a breath. So his stance relaxes, gun at his side, when the conversation doesn't grow any more tense. ]

Good. Can start with that, then. Can show you how to navigate the maintenance shafts, too.

[subplot]

[Karen gives frank a look that says way to make me look stupid but doesn't actually seem that bothered by it. Instead, she glances back to Amos and then looks toward the door. They could slip away and start now, but that means they'd miss potentially important information.]

Then we can start as soon as this is over.

[ he's not surprised by karen's insistence they stay at all, settling back in his chair a little and crossing his arms while he looks over at the pair. ]

Seems like we're just talking around in circles.

[ Amos just nods, and turns away, back towards the bigger conversation going on in the meeting. ]
