@all (from @r.asuka)

[ On the morning of the 15th, there is a network-wide ping issued approximately twenty-three minutes after the roster is released to the public. ]

Hello.

As I'm certain you all are aware, a roster has been sent to each of our devices. Given that this is yet another item on a growing list to be examined by us all, I believe it's important for each of us to come together to discuss any possible concerns or ideas that may require teamwork.

@PALPATINE and I earlier discussed the possibility of a non-compulsory meeting to sort through these issues. We agreed it would be in our best interests.

If you're inclined, please come to the Mess Hall at 19:00 in three day's time.

[ ooc: so! this will be broken down into sub-headings as discussed on the ooc plot post and utilized as a kind of "catch-all." if you think anything needs to be added at any time, please feel free to contact me through pm, at [plurk.com profile] rasasvada, or on disco at morning star#3715. or, you know, add it yourself! i don't mind.

noticeably, this is self-directed! if you character wants to speak or make a point to everyone, feel free to do so. no one is policing how this goes or making introductory comments or whatever else. open floor, y'all. ]

The one I piloted was two hundred and sixty feet tall and almost two thousand tons. Some were much larger. The older models, like Gipsy, were nuclear powered, but the newer models are digital. The pilots are connected to each other and to the Jaeger through a neural link. We use drivesuits to control them—they pick up on the pilot's electrical impulses and muscle movements and relay them to the Jaeger. I was wearing mine when I got here, but... I'm not sure what happened to it.

[Did you want an infodump, Amos?]

[ YES HE DID.

He stares at Mako, this diminutive girl who apparently can pilot a robot that's bigger than some ships Amos has been on, fascinated. The robot responding to the pilot's electrical impulses is a thing of genius, and he wishes he could see it in person, play with the tech. ]

Can I ask - why?

There was an alien race trying to colonize Earth. They had weapons too, just organic ones—massive monsters that we call kaiju. The first one managed a six day rampage along the California coast and destroyed Sacramento, Oakland and San Francisco before we could take it down with nuclear weapons. Doing it that way meant that massive areas were left uninhabitable from radiation, and kaiju blood is toxic, too. We needed a way to take them out at close range.

[ Well, damn. ]

So, what you're saying is that you're a badass monster killer?

[Mako blinks up at him for a second, then smiles a little, thrown off but clearly pleased at the compliment.]

I guess so. I'm not a pilot anymore, though.
