( 0 0 1 » ENSEMBLE ) welcome to the inaugural log
» WHO? everyone
» WHEN? may 1 onward
» WHERE? all over the station
» WHAT? introductory log feat. waking up, exploration, meeting over food and noises in the walls
» WARNINGS? potential for body horror, psychological horror, hallucinations, physical injury

Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.
"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."
The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.
Welcome to your new home.

You've woken up — but where have you woken up? It may be time to explore your new home. Rifling through a crew quarter will make the room's terminal lock to the comms device you're carrying; the room becomes yours. That includes everything in it, from the additional jumpsuit to the two extra sets of underwear. In some quarters, you may find remnants of whoever was here before you: a book on the nightstand, a coffee mug still on the table, a lonely sock on the floor.
A look around the shared areas will reveal the bar, some of its bottles already open, the mess hall, observation deck and the gym area with its dirty pool. An even closer look around these areas might reveal basic first aid kits as well as basic tool kits and fire extinguishers. The kits are located near the fire extinguishers in compartments in the wall that are not immediately visible. Hopefully, nothing's on fire and no one needs first aid... but that tool kit might come in handy.
Every now and then, as you explore, you might find yourself standing before a door that is locked. Try as you might, you will not be able to get it open.
( OOC: What items characters find of those who were there before them is up to players, but please limit it to a single item that is mundane and somewhat useless in nature. )

Sooner or later, all characters will have to make their way to the mess hall if they want to eat. In the mess hall, here are a number of replicator-like devices that sometimes work and sometimes don't— but after a recent malfunction that some characters may have noticed, they seem to work just fine... or at least as well as ever: nothing is particularly palatable, but at least it's nourishment, right?
So why not sit down at a table, whether it's already occupied or not, and have a meal. Maybe use it as an opportunity to introduce yourself, or just to complain about what passes for coffee around here.
And if coffee isn't your preferred beverage, well. There's always the bar.

For some, it's been over a week on the station. For others, merely a day or two. For all, things are starting to change: maybe you were asleep or maybe you weren't, but surely the scream that reverberates through the station will startle you. Was it human? Whatever it was, it seems to be coming from the walls of the station. Banging, clanging, then more screams.
Are you going to chase the sounds? Hide away from them? Try to investigate?
If you follow the sound of screams through the station's corridors and halls, you might feel someone - or was it something? - grab you from behind and pull hard. But when you turn around or turn your head if you've fallen, there's nothing and no one there. If you investigate and perhaps put your ear to a wall to see if the noises really come from there, or bang on the wall, you might hear something other than screams and clanging. Strain your ears and you might hear nothing at all — or you might be able to make out a soft "help me". It's barely above a whisper. Did it sound familiar? If you try to take apart the wall, two things will happen: you'll feel uncharacteristically weak and lethargic all of the sudden, and you'll find nothing at all but wiring and more metal.
Whatever you do, you'll find that the noises stop after a while, with no discernible source other than "the walls". And then hours later, they'll start again. Stop again. Start again a day later— and then stop for good.

Hello Reverie Terminal Operators! Welcome to our inaugural event. We hope you'll enjoy it!
To help exploration and interaction with the station, we have put together ten (10) 'actions' that you can request. These actions range from very minor, such as receiving a small piece of information about the station, to major, which may be a more vital piece of information or something far less pleasant, and are completely opt-in. These actions can help get your character involved in the plot, jump into the plot and its mysteries, and have more of a personal prompt to jump off of if you so wish.
Please note if you would avoid particular kinds of consequences (for example, if you'd rather your character not be injured), and we'll try to accommodate that, but please be aware that heavy themes are in play and the actions may feature body horror, injury and hallucinations.
If you'd like to receive an action, please reply to this comment with the following:
In the future, actions such as these may be "bought" with bonus AC.

Please use content warning in your top-levels wherever necessary.

004.
followingsearching for clary, intending to stick to the side of the only familiar face around here, when he hears the scream too. angry though he still may be at her betrayal, he isn't foolish enough to try and get rid of the only other person he knows when they're trapped in a situation like this, and so keeping his darling sister around is his best bet.and of course, with all of her heroics, she goes rushing in. after all, she had wanted to save him once too — so why not a random person on a completely alien ship that they know nothing about?
he follows after her, grabs her arm when she reaches the entrance, intending on stopping her from going any further. )
Don't be foolish, Clarissa. ( the scolding comes with a slight tightening of his grip, as though his words would only make her run even more. he wouldn't be surprised. she hates him. ) This place is completely unknown to us. This could be a trick, intending on causing us harm with a trap luring in rash heroics.
no subject
So there's fire in her glare when she turns to him, her jaw tight. )
Heroics? Do you even know what that means?
( The worst part of all of this is that he could have been great. She'd liked him, once. Even before she'd know her brother was out there somewhere. Sebastian had been a good Shadowhunter, he'd helped Izzy, he'd helped her. But it was all a ploy, and that stung far more than it should.
The scream comes again, and her expression loses the anger. She's still trying to pinpoint the source, attention torn between the noise and her brother. ) Just let me go. If someone's hurt then they'll need help.
no subject
instead, he merely grits his teeth. )
I've spent enough time around you and your merry band of helpful heroes to know.
( and being stabbed in the back by one certainly didn't help - ignoring the fact that sebastian had been the one to threaten it first. everyone's the good guy in their own story after all, and —
jonathan morgenstern has always had his reasons, especially for his anger. )
And if no one is hurt? If it's merely a ploy to get someone there and hurt them instead? You don't have your stele here, Clarissa, nor any sort of weapon. ( or he guesses she doesn't anyway, since he woke up without anything of his own. merely the jumpsuit and the wrist device. ) Hand-to-hand can only get you so far, especially if you don't know what you're up against.
no subject
( He's right, she knows he's right. Without her stele, without her weapons, she's just Clary Fray. But that doesn't mean she's any more willing to let it go. She's been through too much to go back to the scared girl she was. She's lost too much, and she can't have anyone else go through that. )
There's got to be something I can use. You stole that knife from the kitchen. ( She'd taken it back, but she regrets that now. ) So there are weapons. Just not ones made of Adamas. And I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a demon.
( Maybe. Eighty percent. Or sixty. )
I'm going. You can't stop me.
no subject
( it comes out as an annoyed hiss, but he's let her arm go. they can stand there and talk as much as he wants them to, but it won't stop her from wanting to help. it's one thing he hates (adores) about her, that she will help anyone (even him) at her own risk, and her stubbornness is something he can relate to. something they both inherited from their parents, he supposes.
he's going to wait for her to move first though, a tight frown still turning down his features into a familiar, angry grimace. )
Fine. Go and be the hero. But I'll be coming with you, otherwise you're probably going to get yourself killed.
( when did he get so soft? eugh. )
no subject
( It comes out sharper than she means it to. Anyone who could see them now would probably be able to put two and two together. Both too quick to bare their teeth, sure of their ways and full of righteous fury. They're so terribly similar. They just don't look the same, but then again, that isn't Jonathan's real face. )
Why do you care?
( She hates that she wants the answer, hates that it means anything at all to her. But the pained scream comes again and Clary swears, loud and frustrated, shaking her head once. ) Forget it. ( Her feet move, leaving the observation deck as quickly as she can. She doesn't look to see if Jonathan is behind her. She can feel him anyway. )
The kitchen's this way?
( Like it or not, they're working together now. )
no subject
sebastian has been alone in a new place before, and it's not something he wants to experience again. there isn't going to be another lilith here. )
On the deck above us. ( he follows behind her, longer legs taking him further and forcing him to slow his pace to make sure she's in front. if something comes from behind, at least he can take care of it. and if something comes from the front, he can rush forward and block whatever it is.
but he doesn't care about her. he just doesn't want to leave this piece of their home behind. )
There should be plenty of knives there. Sharp ones - better than the one I had before. ( and if there's a grin as sharp as those knives on his face, well - he's glad he's walking behind her. )
no subject
You know that's creepy, right?
( Because she can't help herself.
Her footsteps are heavy. She's definitely not used to the boots. Space boots. Her life is insane. But finding the kitchen is easy enough, and Clary storms in like she owns the place, immediately riffling through drawers. )
If I give you a knife, are you going to use it against innocent people?
no subject
( well, that's an excuse at least. sebastian has always been creepy, from the moment he picked up his first weapon and went hunting a werewolf in order to please their father. still, there's an excuse to the madness - and perhaps a method right now, in this case. )
I doubt you would let me, dear sister.
( clary has managed to stab him, after all. though perhaps it would be best to ignore the fact that he had enjoyed it.
his sister, causing him such pleasurable pain. sebastian might have loved it, in a terrible way. )
I pinky swear to only use it to help you today.
no subject
Hell, she hasn't even complained as much as she should at his persistent presence.
Maybe she's not thinking straight. Or maybe grief has finally broken her self-preservation. She doesn't know. But she flips a knife in her hand and reaches out, holding it so the handle is closest to him. ) Don't make me regret this.
( She waits, until he takes the blade, then moves back to find her own. They don't even know what's out there, it's probably best not to take any chances. )
