And we are far, far from home,

» WHO? Lapis Lazuli, Alucard, Kira, Connor & their stalker, Apollo.
» WHEN? From the 22nd to the 28th
» WHERE? Starting at the station and eventually planet side.
» WHAT? A bunch of idiots go planetside
» WARNINGS? None as of yet other than Lapis' likely space racism.

Top levels in the comments.

[ Nobody had technically invited Apollo on this trip but he's glad he inserted himself in to the group if only to witness this. He watches in fascination as Connor tests out their environment, reeling off statistics. It reminds him (with a fond pang) of the Engineer. Angie would be having a field day (literally).

He lets Connor do his thing a moment longer before interjecting curiously: ]

If you found something poisonous, would it hurt you?

[Connor looks up at Apollo, politely getting back to his feet to speak with him.]

No. I'm an android. I have no biological functions for a poison to affect. Furthermore, I can analyze samples, but I'm not actually ingesting them.

[He straightens his slightly damp dress shirt and adjusts the cuffs as he spoke before wiping the algae off his fingers.]

I apologize, there wasn't much time for introductions before we departed. My name is Connor. You're Apollo, right?

[With his jacket, which read ANDROID in big letters across the back, hung up to dry off, the only telling characteristic that marked him as potentially inhuman was a small, circular LED on his right temple. Otherwise, CyberLife had designed him to look and sound as human as possible.]

[ It's frustrating when even an android has better clothing than you. That's a nice shirt. Apollo does his best to not be too envious as he raises a hand in an amiable wave; considering the algae on Connor's hands he doesn't really want to shake. ]

Apollo, that's right. Good to meet you, Connor. [ Curiously he drifts closer, brows pinched in the faintest frown of thought. ] Sorry if I ask any insensitive questions. You're the first android I've ever met, I think...

[The plant matter and dirt on his hands were exactly why he hadn't extended a hand for a shake.]

Likewise. Alucard spoke very highly of you. [He gives Apollo a polite, but empty, smile.]

There are no insensitive questions. Not for androids.

I'm surprised that you haven't run into any of the other androids on board. They're from different times and places than I am, however. We're all androids. We're just... a little different from one another. [So far, he knew of three distinct groups, including himself.]

[ At the mention of what Alucard has said about him, Apollo gives Connor a look of pure surprise. And maybe a little bit of ruefulness too. ]

Oh? Well. Alucard is a gentleman. He would.

[ Despite the fact that Apollo threw a plant at his face a few moments ago. ]

So what makes you different from the others, Connor?

From the other androids? [He tilts his head to the side a bit questioningly.]

Our hardware is noticeably different. CyberLife, the company who creates androids where I'm from, wanted androids to look as human as possible but to act with complete obedience. The other three androids I've met also seem to have been designed for military use. I was designed to assist detectives with crime scene analysis, hostage negotiations and suspect interrogations.

We also seem to have varying definitions of deviancy. That's what it's called when an android deviates from its programming.

[He pauses for a moment, the small LED on the side of his temple flickering blue.] May I ask you a question? Alucard said you somehow... absorbed power from the sun. How does that work?

[ At Connor's question he turns his face to the alien sun, squinting in to the bright sunlight and enjoying the warmth on his face. ]

Good question.

[ Apollo smiles at the sun, briefly, before turning that smile on Connor. ]

I don't really know. Strange, isn't it? Something to do with absorbing and reforming solar energy... [ He tails off with a helpless shrug. ] The man who designed me didn't think to fill me in on the details.

[Connor follows Apollo's gaze, squinting slightly as he looked towards the sun before his optics adjusted, turning the rest of the landscape dark as the light from the sun became bearable.

He blinked and met Apollo's eyes again, optics once again adjusting now that he wasn't staring straight at the sun.]

Someone designed you? A man?[His brow furrowed a little.] I don't understand.
