» WHEN? JUNE 1 onward
» WHERE? ALL OVER THE STATION (literally)
» WHAT? Gravity is always on, until it isn't.
» WARNINGS? zero g, paralysis, the vacuum of space, possible asphyxiation, possible character death

The outer rings of Reverie Station rotate around the shaft of the station, using inertial forces to simulate gravity. One moment, this works fine — people are walking along corridors, sleeping in their beds, eating in the mess hall or having a drink at the bar. The next moment? In some parts of the station, a crunching sound can be heard, like metal against metal, and shortly thereafter, the rings cease to spin, causing a jolt to go through all rings.
And then what passed for gravity just stops.
Your food, drink or blanket might have floated off after the jolt. Remember to engage your mag boots, if you're wearing them, lest you follow suit. Good luck getting around in zero g.

It isn't clear why the rotation of the rings has stopped and gravity ceased, but one thing is certain: life on the station is a lot more difficult without gravity, especially for those not used to living and working in a zero g environment. The sensible thing would be to fix whatever is wrong, but in order to do that, you have to figure out what's wrong first.
One way to get an idea might be to put on a suit (if required) and go out an airlock to have a close look at the upper ring, where the crunching noise could be heard the loudest. The objective is to identify the problem and, if possible, fix it — but unless you have the power of flight and can breathe in the vacuum of space, the walk from the airlock to surveying the ring will be taxing in and of itself.
Better not lose hold of the station or each other and whatever you do, do not disengage those mag boots. Hopefully, no debris will come flying at you. The station may be built to withstand it, but you aren't.
OOC: There are some 20 vac suits with oxygen packs and small thrusters for (weak) propulsion available in the spaces currently accessible to characters; these can be found in various airlocks.

For those who've successfully made the walk across the hull of the station to find the problem, it will soon become obvious what has happened: debris crashed into the station and got lodged between the uppermost ring and the shaft of the station, where it is stuck, preventing the spinning of the ring.
You will need to work together to cut through the debris or dislodge it. It's heavy, and you have little leverage in the absence of gravity.
Keep in mind also that if you successfully dislodge the debris, the outer ring will start moving again. Be prepared, especially if you're still connected to the ring by your mag boots. Inertial forces can be quite strong, so you will need to brace yourself or risk being dislodged yourself.

The lack of gravity may be disorienting at first for those not used to operating in zero g environments. Fortunately, mag boots mean you can continue walking along corridors — though the boots will engage with what used to be the ceiling of the corridors as much as what used to be the floor. No matter which part of the corridor you're attached to, if any, better make sure to collect anything that may be floating around, lest it becomes a dangerous projectile whenever gravity turns back on.
The mess hall and the gym area in particular are in a significant state of disarray. In the mess hall, some cutlery (of the grey, hard plastic variant) has been left unsecured and is floating harmlessly through the air. The same holds true for a large amount of protein powder. In the gym area, meanwhile, the entirety of the dirty water from the pool is no longer in the pool.( ☺︎ )

One moment, you’re walking — or maybe you’re floating, mag boots disengaged. Either way, from one moment to the next, you become unable to move. Your arms, your legs, even wiggling a toe becomes a thing of impossibility. There’s a heavy weight on your chest, despite the fact that gravity is still not back on. Taking a breath is an ordeal. You can’t call for help, you can’t signal to anyone, you can only stay still.( ♪ )

The station may be built to withstand debris, but you aren't — which makes it all the more unfortunate that some debris does catch you. In the side, in the face or in the legs, it doesn't matter: what matters is that the impact is strong enough to disengage the mag boots, which means you are now floating in space.
Did your suit take damage? Do its thrusters still work, or not? Is your oxygen pack still connected properly? If your connection to the station network is still intact, now would be a good time to call for help and hope that someone's close enough to get to you in time before you float too far from the station to still be reached, before your oxygen runs out, before any possible injuries you may have sustained take their toll.( ♪ )
OOC: With this prompt, the extent of possible injuries, the time before rescue and factors such as oxygen or damage to the suit are all up to players. Please keep in mind that character death is very much a possibility — but that death means relatively little. Should a character die from their injuries or lack of oxygen, they will awaken again. As per the death mechanism outlined in the FAQ, characters are brought back to life (possibly repeatedly, if rescue takes a while), but they lose something. What they lose is up to players as well (a limb, memories, senses, social skills, ...) and the duration of the loss can range from a few days to permanent loss.

What choice do you have but to wait out this paralysis and hope that it loses its hold on you before your oxygen runs out? Better not panic, lest you use up more of it.( ♪ )

He would rather get Ryuji's explanation first than to have to give one of his own, not being the biggest sharing type when it came to serious information, but he supposed in this case, it couldn't be helped. He wouldn't give him anything he didn't need to know though, that was for certain. Minato hesitates a moment, trying to formulate his thoughts and plan of action in his head, before speaking.]
I'm a Persona user. Or I used to be. I'm not sure.
[If this guy could summon his Persona here, that could possibly mean he could as well, but he wasn't certain. He didn't have an Evoker to try, so perhaps he'd never know, unless one mysteriously showed up.]
Are you affiliated with the Kirijo Group?
no subject
He has to make a really quick judgment call at this point, whether or not he wants to trust Minato and bring him into things really quick, or be cagey as fuck about it and pull back. His gut instinct, which he always, ALWAYS relies on, tells him that it's somehow alright. That this won't come back to bite himself on the ass.
Ryuji summons his mask to his face and lets it stay there, showing the mechanism for how he evokes his own persona. He's never felt ridiculous wearing it- and certainly doesn't right now, but he figures Minato has one too. That's how this works, right?]
No clue what you're talkin' about. Kirijo Group? I'm a...
[Scratches the back of his head.]
A thief.
[The first time he's said it to anyone on the station aside from the other phantom thieves. Congrats, Minato.]
no subject
His brow scrunches just a tad and he tilts his head, studying the mask on his face — his way to summon his Persona, if earlier was any indication. Was that a way that this guy had developed that bypassed the use for an Evoker? Possibly. Huh. Could he do that too, and he'd been shooting himself in the head all this time for no reason? Okay, that didn't matter right now, he'd figure that stuff out later. More importantly: he was a thief? Minato had no idea what that meant. This was all very baffling, and his nose was still bleeding and most likely broken, which kind of hurt a lot and was very distracting.]
I don't know what that means.
no subject
It doesn't make sense to try and sit there talking about this sort of stuff, but while they're alone, he needs to make crystal clear that this conversation doesn't leave the fitness center.]
I steal the hearts of corrupted people. You should... be able too, if you have a persona. Palaces? Treasures? The Metaverse? The cases of the mental shutdowns? None of that rings a bell?
[He sighs, looking over at Minato, clearly in pain from the shit he did.]
C'mon, we can talk after.
no subject
[He sighs, free hand running through his bangs while the other keeps his nose pinched. This was gonna be an interesting conversation, he could feel it already — but Ryuji's right, they had a more pressing matter to handle beforehand.]
To be continued. I think someone needs to pop my nose back in place.
no subject
With Akechi, the fakeness to his personality was so obviously apparent that even someone as uninsightful as Ryuji could pick it out. He has to remind himself that one doesn't always imply the other- a persona user is a trickster, but that doesn't mean that they're fated to betray.
So in the end, he sends a quick message to Ren.
@joker: Yo. We got an issue. There's another persona user here. And I might've broken his nose. Do you want me to take him to our room or the infirmary?]
Is it dislocated? ... would another ball to the face fix it? I mean, I can do that.
[No? Don't?? Do that??]
no subject
Not unless your ball can cast Diarahan.
[Har har, a Persona joke, just for you.]
I think so. It feels broken, anyways.
no subject
[Ryuji cracks a smile back at him, because... when isn't it a good time for some good old potty humor mixed in with vague mentions of bizarre magics that teens shouldn't have access to.]
I... uh... I have a friend here. He can summon multiple personas. He has one with some healing magic. If you wanna wait it out for him to get here, it'll be quicker than the infirmary.
[He pauses, looks a little guilty for what he did- but adds:]
I bet he'd be really interested in meeting you.
no subject
...He's a Wild Card?
no subject
[Badum-tish.
His smartwatch rings, Ren telling him to bring Minato to their room. That's all he needs- probably better this way, anyway. Going to the infirmary would open the door for potential questions anyway. Questions like what the hell were you doing kicking a ball in the fitness center, Ryuji?.
He doesn't know Junpei at all, but chances are, they'd get along pretty damn well.
Either way, he starts escorting the other protag to meet his protag. Feels kind of... fated, almost. The best thing about the fitness center? It's practically next door to their quarters. He nods his head over at Minato and opens the entrance.]
Yo, Renren. Here's the guy I was talkin' about.
no subject
As if his mind could sense the combined cosmic weight of a Ryuji and Junpei-run Operation Babe Hunt and Ren was alerted to the horror that would ensue, Ren spends that nervous energy tidying up their space a little in preparation for non-Phantom Thief company.
The news of Persona users that aren't Thieves is alarming, to say the least. Their track record on that is exactly one (1) and he can't say that Goro Akechi has been all that much of a boon on their lives as a whole. Disclaimer: results are not typical.
When they pile in, he doesn't know whether or not to be relieved or concerned that the guys looks so unassuming aside from the blatantly red and further discoloring nose. ]
Jeez. Didn't hold back, huh.
[ Here's Ren coming closer to inspect the damage, concern sketched in spare lines on his face and slight clench in his teeth. ]
Another persona user, then? Guess I won't need to worry about freak outs.
no subject
What can I say, he has good aim.
[Minato, though it isn't obvious, is sizing Ren up. He'd never met another Wild Card like himself, and he didn't entirely know what to expect out of him — either of them, really. Ren seemed earnest enough though, the concern on his face appearing to be genuine, and Ryuji seemed too honest to be secretly harboring ill will and/or nefarious plans, so he was starting to relax a little in their company.]
Yep. For a year now.
no subject
[He says lucky, but he absolutely doesn't mean it that way, because try as he might to be menacing, he's fully aware that his luck is practically fucking level E rank. Holding one of his arms, he looks over to Minago, a little bit of guilt obvious to his features.]
Sorry about that, man.
[And even if he was apprehensive about this meeting, Ryuji held out hope that it would go well. There was something about Minato that he intuitively liked. Couldn't put his finger on it. Didn't have to. Maybe it's because he took his broken nose so incredibly well. Or maybe it was auspicious enough to believe that there was another potential Phantom Thief out there in the station.]
Hear that, Ren? He's our persona senpai!
no subject
[ Sorry about being unable to reroll your luck stat, dude. Thankfully, though he doubts that Minato knows it, Ryuji's the guy in the yearbook that's picked for Most Likely To Take A Bullet For A Friend so given he comes to like you Minato's in good hands.
It's just. Y'know, the last time he met a Wild Card it was in the midst of murderous emotional spiral, so Ren is understandably equal parts curious and wary. Ryuji's (inner, quieter) feelings about people were usually on the money, so he wouldn't just bring Minato for nothing, injured or not.
He has to snort a little though, a wry upturn to his lips. ]
By my time I've been a Wild Card for almost a year too. Call me senpai, Ryuj.
[ The grin is still there when Ren's white mask materializes, once again flickering into blue flame to summon Cybele to his side. Would Minato know her, by any chance? Ren might guess that he does going by the way she leans forward to run one long-nailed finger along his busted nose, a Diarahan spell filtering through and knitting together bone and bruised blood vessels back to perfect working order.
Ren blinks slowly, hand coming up to frame his chin. ]
Hn. Interesting...
no subject
Thank you, Cybele.
[A very small, very gentle smile quirks on his lips at her, with no shortage of fondness for one of the many companions he'd had throughout his journey. Minato removes the cloth from his nose, stuffing it in his pocket for lack of a better place to put it, least he let go and just let it float aimlessly where it would, which seemed like terrible manners.]
So. We have a lot to talk about. First of all... I'm Minato Arisato. Nice to meet you both.
no subject
He grumbles, arms crossing.]
Ain't no way in hell I'm callin' you senpai.
[Yep.
That's it.
That's all he has to add to this.]
no subject
Ah, well, question answered. He supposes that when they thought themselves demons they referred to themselves as coming from human hearts, emerging from the sea of souls and that mystical stuff. Something about sharing a facet of his soul with another like him who could use it instantly solidifies a bond to Minato not unlike the confidants he gained in Tokyo. Closer, maybe, as though one could hold a gem and see Minato's face, then turn it slightly to another angle and find Ren's staring back out.
Ren elbows Ryuji's side lightly, pushing his shaggy hair out of his eyes after. ]
This is Ryuji Sakamoto, and I'm Ren Amamiya.
I'm only guessing here but Ryuji's already asked you about the Metaverse? Is that how you awakened to your personas too?
no subject
Briefly. Unfortunately, I've never heard of it.
[He pauses for a moment — how much should he say? He felt like he could trust these two, so he wouldn't be too cagey, unless they started asking specifics about things he'd rather not discuss. Welp, time to talk more than he usually did at any given time.]
As you already guessed, I'm also a Wild Card — you're the first person I've met that shares the same power. For me, I awoke to my abilities during something known as the Dark Hour. It was an extra hour of the day occurring between midnight and 12:01 am, where Shadows roamed freely — I assume you must at least know what Shadows are.
no subject
He knows better than to assume things like... how cool it would be to have a little extra time in the day, and understands that nothing relating to the world of shadows is ever steeped neck fucking deep in anything useful like that.]
Yeah. Shadows are the things that roam around in Mementos and palaces. They don't really roam freely though... they were always thrown down into a place that exists outside of the real world. Well. Uh. Not that the metaverse isn't the real world? It's just. Thoughts? And shit.
[Please take this burden off his hands, Ren.]
But I thought they were just peoples' conceptions of what important myths look like. Like a fairy, or a demon taking a dump on a toilet. That kinda stuff.
no subject
Elbow, meet Ryuji's side. Lightly. ]
It isn't like the Shadows we knew "roamed freely" so much as they were inside Palaces - little worlds ruled by these people that had such strong distortions in how they thought about the world that they actually warped the fabric of reality around them.
So, normal people were indirectly safe. Unfortunately the Shadows that ruled the Palaces coincided with people in powerful positions in the real world, and they used that power to hurt innocent people. Ryuji here and another of our friends were abused by a volleyball teacher that was past his prime. Our other friend, Yusuke? His artist sensei was an abusive bastard who stole ideas from his students and made sure they'd never be successful without his influence.
[ He shrugs loosely, the nonchalance utterly at odds with the muted fury beneath his expression, grey eyes heated to steel. ]
We basically had to get our Personas to have any chance at fighting back.
no subject
Mm... Shadows, no. Personas, yes. Unless for some reason, Shadows were different for you to some degree...?
[And to Ren's words:]
Shadows were mostly located within Tartarus, which was a gigantic tower that only appeared during the Dark Hour. Those Shadows that were outside of Tartarus would hurt innocent people by finding those that had woken up during the Dark Hour and attacking them, since people were usually encased inside protective coffins during that time unless they were a Persona user or had the potential to become one... with some exceptions. [Hi, Ikutsuki.] Those that did get attacked would end up with Apathy Syndrome -- you know about that from the news, right? Where people were suddenly overnight becoming shuffling, vacant zombies?
[Until it suddenly stopped and everyone got better, that is. You're all very welcome.
He could see how intense and serious Ren was about this, the burning desire to protect the people close to him evident in the way his eyes sharpened, and he sensed the spirit of someone who had a chip on his shoulder against the world and its cruelty. He could only imagine that Ryuji and their other friends had the same sort of conviction, especially if their whole journey had been one of fighting against corruption.]
So, you were using your Personas to fight against corrupted people through Shadows...? How did you do that?
no subject
Was that like the mental shutdowns in Tokyo?
[This is all too much to spin together for someone like Ryuji, but he gets the sense that Minato is from their past. Not just a little, but--- years.
He reminds himself to tell Ren not to say anything about the future to Minato, in private. These sort of things can create time paradoxes, as he's learned... which could ripple effects into the future that could have deep, unintended side effects.]
Uh.
Our personas? Is it cool to show 'em Ren? [He takes his friend's lead on this one.]
