( 0 0 1 » ENSEMBLE ) welcome to the inaugural log
» WHO? everyone
» WHEN? may 1 onward
» WHERE? all over the station
» WHAT? introductory log feat. waking up, exploration, meeting over food and noises in the walls
» WARNINGS? potential for body horror, psychological horror, hallucinations, physical injury

Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.
"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."
The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.
Welcome to your new home.

You've woken up — but where have you woken up? It may be time to explore your new home. Rifling through a crew quarter will make the room's terminal lock to the comms device you're carrying; the room becomes yours. That includes everything in it, from the additional jumpsuit to the two extra sets of underwear. In some quarters, you may find remnants of whoever was here before you: a book on the nightstand, a coffee mug still on the table, a lonely sock on the floor.
A look around the shared areas will reveal the bar, some of its bottles already open, the mess hall, observation deck and the gym area with its dirty pool. An even closer look around these areas might reveal basic first aid kits as well as basic tool kits and fire extinguishers. The kits are located near the fire extinguishers in compartments in the wall that are not immediately visible. Hopefully, nothing's on fire and no one needs first aid... but that tool kit might come in handy.
Every now and then, as you explore, you might find yourself standing before a door that is locked. Try as you might, you will not be able to get it open.
( OOC: What items characters find of those who were there before them is up to players, but please limit it to a single item that is mundane and somewhat useless in nature. )

Sooner or later, all characters will have to make their way to the mess hall if they want to eat. In the mess hall, here are a number of replicator-like devices that sometimes work and sometimes don't— but after a recent malfunction that some characters may have noticed, they seem to work just fine... or at least as well as ever: nothing is particularly palatable, but at least it's nourishment, right?
So why not sit down at a table, whether it's already occupied or not, and have a meal. Maybe use it as an opportunity to introduce yourself, or just to complain about what passes for coffee around here.
And if coffee isn't your preferred beverage, well. There's always the bar.

For some, it's been over a week on the station. For others, merely a day or two. For all, things are starting to change: maybe you were asleep or maybe you weren't, but surely the scream that reverberates through the station will startle you. Was it human? Whatever it was, it seems to be coming from the walls of the station. Banging, clanging, then more screams.
Are you going to chase the sounds? Hide away from them? Try to investigate?
If you follow the sound of screams through the station's corridors and halls, you might feel someone - or was it something? - grab you from behind and pull hard. But when you turn around or turn your head if you've fallen, there's nothing and no one there. If you investigate and perhaps put your ear to a wall to see if the noises really come from there, or bang on the wall, you might hear something other than screams and clanging. Strain your ears and you might hear nothing at all — or you might be able to make out a soft "help me". It's barely above a whisper. Did it sound familiar? If you try to take apart the wall, two things will happen: you'll feel uncharacteristically weak and lethargic all of the sudden, and you'll find nothing at all but wiring and more metal.
Whatever you do, you'll find that the noises stop after a while, with no discernible source other than "the walls". And then hours later, they'll start again. Stop again. Start again a day later— and then stop for good.

To help exploration and interaction with the station, we have put together ten (10) 'actions' that you can request. These actions range from very minor, such as receiving a small piece of information about the station, to major, which may be a more vital piece of information or something far less pleasant, and are completely opt-in. These actions can help get your character involved in the plot, jump into the plot and its mysteries, and have more of a personal prompt to jump off of if you so wish.
Please note if you would avoid particular kinds of consequences (for example, if you'd rather your character not be injured), and we'll try to accommodate that, but please be aware that heavy themes are in play and the actions may feature body horror, injury and hallucinations.

Daisy Johnson | Agents of SHIELD
[The jumpsuit is definitely not what she had been wearing before she came here, and while there was a lot that she was bothered about since waking up here, that definitely felt like a huge invasion of privacy. Which has been a theme for her as of late. Hand raising to her neck, Daisy feels the gauze still covering the wound on her neck from where Fitz had taken out the inhibitor. She feels off and she’s not sure if that’s from what’s just happened back at the base, or waking up here where she assumes she’s been drugged. Again.
Daisy is already looking for any sort of weapon she can find to defend herself with, and frustratingly enough she doesn’t really come up with anything aside from a tool kit. It’ll have to do for now as she grabs a wrench. She almost hits someone as she turns a corner before she lowers the wrench and lets out a breath when she realizes they aren’t a threat. At least, they don’t look like one. She’s still holding the wrench tightly at her side though, just in case.]
Where are we?
[She’s hoping for an answer, but she’s expecting for them to be just as lost as she is. They look lost.]
[HAVE A BITE]
[Daisy hasn’t eaten since she arrived here a little over a day ago, but it’s becoming too hard to ignore so she makes her way to the mess hall that she’s walked past several times. There are others in there, some getting their food and others eating it. It doesn’t look the least bit appetizing, and some people look as though they are struggling to eat it.
After getting her ‘food’, Daisy looks for the table with the least amount of people.]
Is it cool if I sit here?
[NOISE IN THE WALLS]
[Daisy is on her way back to her quarters when she hears a scream that goes right through her. Without thinking twice about it, she’s running in the direction she thinks she hears it coming from. What if someone was hurt? Or something dangerous has come on board? She’s rounding a corner when she’s suddenly being yanked back so hard that her back slams into the wall. Stunned she looks around but doesn’t see anything.
Quickly pushing herself off from the wall, Daisy steps further into the middle of the corridor and turns quickly on the spot. What the hell was that? Hand out in front of her just in case she has to use her power, Daisy tried to quiet her breathing. She’s had to deal with unseen forces before and they were never fun.
Walking further down the hallway, Daisy replays what just went down in her head in an attempt to pinpoint the sound. It sounded like it was coming from the wall so she quickly makes her way back over to where she had just been when she was pulled away. Hands pressing against the wall she cautiously leans in close to press her ear against it. It’s like she had just been injected with ice cold water when she hears a familiar but weak voice pleading for help.
Quickly stepping back with wide eyes she brings her hand back up to shatter the wall, and, nothing. Looking down at her hand she tries again but nothing happens. She isn’t far from her room she runs back to grab the tool kit she had gone back for remembering there was a crow bar and hammer in there. If the screaming hadn’t been loud enough, the sound of someone trying to take apart a wall sure is.]
[ODD DISCOVERY | cw: mild body horror]
[It’s been a long day and after taking an extremely long shower, Daisy is standing in front of the small mirror in her extremely compact bathroom finger coming her soaking wet hair when she notices something. For a second she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her but when she touches the skin on her shoulder and feels something pulsing underneath she immediately panics. Stepping back from the mirror Daisy turns every which way to try and see if this is happening anywhere else. When it seems to be isolated to one spot, Daisy looks down at the razor that she’s yet to use and does the only thing she can think to do.
What if it’s some weird alien thing that’s going to kill her from the inside? There was so much she didn’t know about this place, that no one else here did for that matter. Wincing in pain as she slices the skin open, not too deeply, as it seemed that whatever it was, was close to the surface, Daisy quickly noticed something that shouldn’t be there. Ignoring the blood that’s trickling down her skin and mixing in with the water still on her body, Daisy stops once she seems to reach the end of it. Getting as close as she can to the mirror she can feel her hands shaking as she tries to tug at the open wound to get a better look. It looks like a wire, which definitely shouldn’t be there. It’s still moving though, and Daisy thinks it could be trying to work its way even further into her body so she’s quick to cut it out.
Placing it on the sink, Daisy waits for it to move but nothing happens. Afraid to take her eyes off of it for too long, she grabs the small med kit to at least cover up the self inflicted wound for now and get dressed.
Using her communicator she sets it to voice and speaks up, clearly shaken. ]

[ noise in the walls ]
But his stomach lurches and his head spins, and Apollo sags weakly against the wall. He claws at the panel faintly, searching for whatever the source of the noise was amid the bundled wiring, but to no avail. Weak and sickened by the strangely debilitating effort of doing something as simple as that, he props himself up against the wall.
Distantly, further up the corridor, he hears more banging. Louder, this time - urgent and real. Weakly he shoulders away from the torn panel and staggers up the corridor, rounding a bend and finding a woman attacking the wall, just as he had. ]
