[One hour before the meeting is set to get underway, a reminder will go out to everyone on station that interested parties should meet on the Bridge at 0900 to discuss the current state of the station and forward goals.]

[ she gives a tiny nod back in response, here as promised and right on time. she's short but well prepared to climb over people or stand on a table if it's what she needs to do to be heard. he doesn't think mike would be surprised to see it happen either. ]

Careful, Mike. If you're always so reliable, people will come to expect things from you.

[There is the tiniest of twitches of his mouth - one small upturn of a corner - when he spots her in-between a pair of shoulders. One he would absolutely deny if pressed.]

And here I was enjoying my vacation so much.

[He jokes back, as if there wasn't (still) a small twinge deep in his gut at hers. Reliable is a matter of perspective, he knows.]

If this is what you call a vacation, I shudder to think what work looks like to a man like you.

[ still light, but tinged with some deeper meaning, perhaps. it's not like she'd say. ]

Do tell me if there's anything I can do to make today's affair run smoother for you.

[ he was a commander once, but so was she. in this place they're all on equal footing and should share responsibility equally. ]

[He doesn't respond to her first comment, now was neither the time nor place for a remix of the plague's greatest hits, but for a moment it's there - a look passing across his face.

He's seen and done things.

At the next, however, he nods.]

Be honest and be respectful, that should help a lot. We all want the same thing.

[ another tease. they barely know each other, after all. ]

[He slants her an amused look.]

I suspect you're a great many things.

[Most people are.]

And that I'd hate to get between you and the answers.

Then I rather hope you never do.

[ she nods again as if to give him her blessing. actually, then she goes ahead and does anyway: ]

May the Force be with us today.

[One of his eyebrows twitch - the phrase means nothing to him - but after a beat he nods back. From context and tone, he thinks he gets the idea.]
