Team Door, ASSEMBLE
» WHO? Team Door… that’s EVERYONE because you’re all automatically drafted now, congratulations
» WHEN? Forward dated to 15th June
» WHERE? The door with the porthole on Deck 2
» WHAT? Eight hours’ worth of beating up a door
» WARNINGS? None
Team Door have identified a likely-looking door to attack! This door, located on Deck 2, has a porthole through which some blinking lights can be seen. It’s the most likely-looking door to go for, so this is how things will unfold:

Team Door have identified a likely-looking door to attack! This door, located on Deck 2, has a porthole through which some blinking lights can be seen. It’s the most likely-looking door to go for, so this is how things will unfold:
- Feel free to handwave that Apollo, Kaldur or Amos (or anyone else involved) has been in touch with your character to let them know that door shenanigans are about to go down
- With Amos’s space engineering expertise they manage to depressurise an area around the door, effectively creating a small airlock within a section of the corridor
- The general plan is to overwhelm the door, so that whoever is tackling it first uses whatever force they can to try to open it until they have to tap out from exhaustion, and then they get swapped out for the next person and so on and so forth
- It will then take characters some 8 hours of flinging themselves/their powers at the door. The exhaustion and weakness that comes with attempting to damage the station will increasingly hamper their progress
- There will be no visible progress in the first three hours but eventually cracks will start to appear and on the eighth hour the door will give
- Once the door gives way, the mods will let us know what magical things will be found on the other side... (edit: looks like this will be announced OOCly by the mods before the 15th)
Things of note:
- Edit: explanation of the three sections that make up the corridor-airlock-door sequence of areas (with a handy image too):
- First section is the normal corridors, where people are resting up when they're getting the woozy feelings/getting their orange slices/getting into the suits. This is a normal station environment
- Then there is a second section - the ante room/airlock area where the pressure keeps on cycling to let people in and out so when you get in from the station corridor the pressure is the same
- And then the depressurized area with the door
- Characters can find 15 suits in or near assorted air locks in those areas of the station as is accessible to them at this time
- Characters can go in to the depressurised airlock in teams or in pairs, whatever works best for them
- The longer they keep attacking the door, the more quickly they grow exhausted and unable to access their powers/strength
- Exhaustion + space suits = not a great time for anyone involved
- Use this post to play out as much/as little as you need

Tiredly, Alucard comes into the observation deck, a bat perched on his shoulder. The bat bares her fangs and lets out a squeak, but seems to settle as Alucard brushes his fingertips over head.]
How are you feeling?
[Alucard leans against the wall, exhausted, but gives Apollo his space.]
no subject
Oh - fine, fine.
[ Just about. He falters a little and adds: ]
Well. Pretty sure I could do with a week on a sunny island somewhere in the Pacific, cocktail in hand. But fine considering their circumstances.
[ His gaze snags on the bat and his expression transforms in to one of surprise. ]
Who's your friend?
no subject
It appears many of us could do with rest after this is over with. Though I wish the sun was more to your favor.
[Even if it would be unfortunate for Alucard, but he would rather see Apollo well.
Upon the question, he holds out his hand for the bat, who climbs into his waiting palm.]
She is a familiar I found on the station. I named her Charlotte.
Charlotte, this is Apollo. He is a friend and is of no threat to me.
[She squeaks, peering suspiciously at Apollo over Alucard's fingers.]
no subject
Christ, why are there so many animals on board? Apollo can't help but find it weirdly disturbing. There's no way that having live, loose animals on board is ever going to work well. But Charlotte is cute, at least. He hunches his shoulders a little as he bends to look more closely. ]
You're talking to her... [ He observes hesitantly, gaze flicking from the bat to Alucard and back again. ] Can she... understand you?
no subject
She isn't just an animal. She's a being of magic. She can heed my commands and understand them.
no subject
Hi Charlotte, [ He says to the bat, quite solemnly, before straightening up and returning his attention back to Alucard. Alucard looks just as exhausted as the rest of them; maybe even more so. ]
Are you okay? You look like you should probably sit down. Or maybe have one of your famous power naps?
no subject
Hm. [Alucard lets out a dry laugh, but he does slowly kneel down before he leans his head against the wall.] I imagine I will be exhausted for a long time yet. But this is necessary.
I think with enough effort, we will be successful.
[They have to be.]
After this is done, I will sleep for a few days. That should be... [Never enough.] Adequate.
no subject
Hey, maybe we should get you back to your cabin? [ Apollo's concerned gaze sweeps him up and down. ] I'd carry you but... I think that would cause more damage...
no subject
No. I would rather wait until the door is open before I retire.
But I appreciate your offer, of course. I want to see this through.
no subject
Take as long as you need, then.
[ Because Apollo understands that - that need to be there, to be present, to make sure the job is done. Still, he gives Alucard a weary smile as he adds: ]
If you fall asleep though, Charlotte and I will drag you back to your cabin. Just warning you.
no subject
Oh? [He smiles wryly at that, and Charlotte perks up at the sound of her name. When she squeaks, she may very well be affirming Apollo's statement.]
Well. I'll keep it in mind, then.
[Affectionately, he rubs his thumb over Charlotte's head.] Apollo. Do you suppose that there will be a way for us to find our paths back to our homelands?
no subject
[ Even exhausted as he is, Apollo doesn't give in to doubt. Not about going home. It's the one reserve that will never be depleted: his bloody-minded determination that everyone will find their way home, one way or another.
He leans his head back, back against the glass window, and gives Alucard a sidelong look. ]
Are you worried about it?
no subject
[The dhampir cups Charlotte into his hands, and he closes his eyes, frowning deeply.]
I have ten months to return home before the worst is to come. I fear not that we won't be able to go home, but rather I will not go home in time.
no subject
In time for what?
no subject
no subject
Uh, why?
[ You can't just say that and not explain, Alucard!! ]
no subject
I will try to summarize, best as I can.
[Alucard is one who sleeps often, obviously, yet somehow upon this topic he looks all the more exhausted.]
My father is Vlad Dracula Ţepeş. A few months ago, he's gone mad with grief and has declared he would kill all humans in my home country. Ten months from now, his demon army will arrive and no human will be spared.
There is no promise he will even stop at Wallachia. He could destroy the rest of humanity in the world, I believe.
So I must go home, as soon as I can. I must be prepared to kill my father.
no subject
Dracula... as in, the Dracula?
no subject
Truthfully, I thought the name I'd been calling myself would've been a giveaway. [He sounds like he's trying to joke, but he's honestly too worn out to be convincing.]
no subject
Alucard... [ He protests softly; Apollo isn't even entirely sure what to say. He doesn't remember his father but he's sure that the idea can't exactly be nice. Especially for someone as young as Alucard is.
Dads are meant to be more than monsters. ]
Do you think you'll be able to reason with him?
no subject
Alucard's next words are whispered, his voice in despair.]
I tried that already.
no subject
Except, that's not what's going on here. There doesn't seem to be that kind of anger or burning injustice in Alucard right now, just quiet anguish. This is personal, this is family, this is an entire world that faces destruction. His gaze lingers on the wound a little longer. If that's what Alucard's father did to him in the face of reason, what will happen to Alucard when he tries to kill Dracula?
Apollo takes a breath - a stupidly human thing for someone who doesn't need to breathe - and nods resolutely. ]
Well. You can't go back in that condition. At least while you're here you can heal.
[ Because that's how Apollo handles things like this - with his own personal brand of optimism and realism. He's not going to talk Alucard out of his mission, but he is going to make sure he can survive it. ]
We aren't going to get home today. Or tomorrow. Maybe not even this week. But when we do, we can make sure that you're able to fight him. To do whatever you need to do to stop him.
no subject
It is why I can't control when I sleep. I need both that and enough blood to make a recovery. Here, I have not have either.
Gallons of blood that no one can safely give me. It is a difficult thing.
[Slowly, he closes his jumpsuit.]
I have ten months. I pray to whatever gods take mercy upon me that I will make it home in time to stop my father.
no subject
Right. Well if you need to sleep, you can damn well sleep. Okay?
[ They might not be able to turn back the clock, but at least they can make sure that when Alucard does return home then he's in fighting form. It's not like they're doing anything else up here, besides beating up doors. There's plenty of time to rest and recuperate in between screaming walls and random bouts of zero gravity. ]
And as for the blood... can the replicators make it for you?
