Head down til the work is done

» WHO? Everyone
» WHEN? After Mike's meeting announcement. (Timey-whimey. If you want your character here, pretend it's whenever you need to be.)
» WHERE? The Bridge
» WHAT? State of the Station Wide Meeting
» WARNINGS? Party-style post. Be mindful of individual threads. Will edit here as/if necessary.

[One hour before the meeting is set to get underway, a reminder will go out to everyone on station that interested parties should meet on the Bridge at 0900 to discuss the current state of the station and forward goals.]

After everyone has said their piece and are on their way to do whatever the hell it is people do on this station, Miller hangs back to get Mike's feedback. Overall, it seemed... successful, if not wholly productive. He thinks they'll be into the Library and the rest of the ships by the end of the week so they can call it a win, more than likely. Except for one thing that wasn't on the docket. It seems like something no one wants to openly discuss, Miller included.

"It's about time for the Station to start fighting back again." He leans in close to say it even though it's no secret, and even though he knows Mike knows. The first week of each month, for those who kept track, was always met with some strange new challenge and the detective is willing to bet this new month will be no different.

He eyes the napkin as Mike slides it into his pocket, but doesn't say anything about it. As for what he says, an uncomfortable expression flits across Miller's slim face.

"Funny you should mention that, partner." 'Cause, like, that was totally a thing in his life this month. "You talk to Kovacs?"

Yeah, he'd seen... that whole mess. And purposefully hadn't engaged.

"He was telling the truth." Miller gestures to the rapidly healing bruise from when Kovacs broke his nose. "I was there."

It sure fucking was.

"Only because I spend every fucking day around the guy. No one else could tell - they thought I was fucking looney-bins until he broke my face."

He snorts, then shrugs. It's not a bad point actually.

"Nah, as much as I hate that Kumbaya shit-- we can't afford to spread out too thin."

Miller knows that look because he sees it in the goddamn mirror every day. He waits for Mike to cycle through it, wanting to laugh at the joke he knows isn't a joke but the urge stalls and he sighs instead.

"And I'd break my hand to do it, partner." #friendshipgoals right here

"That I'd pay to see." Only not really if it meant Mike was in as bad a way as Kovacs. "I can make her punch and kick you? Is it also my birthday?"

Miller shrugs. "Suit yourself. But I did run a strike team once and no one died. ...Well, except the guy I killed." Sort of, that's not the whole story, but whatever. He could totally be trusted with this!!
