Head down til the work is done
» WHO? Everyone
» WHEN? After Mike's meeting announcement. (Timey-whimey. If you want your character here, pretend it's whenever you need to be.)
» WHERE? The Bridge
» WHAT? State of the Station Wide Meeting
» WARNINGS? Party-style post. Be mindful of individual threads. Will edit here as/if necessary.
[One hour before the meeting is set to get underway, a reminder will go out to everyone on station that interested parties should meet on the Bridge at 0900 to discuss the current state of the station and forward goals.]

however, something stops him from making an outright accusation. )
How the fuck would they do that?
( he was an envoy. he'd stood up to mental torture that would have killed almost anyone else. )
Anyone here have that kind of ability?

Alrigh', now, let's roll it back before everyone stats pointin' fingers at each other. There are plenty of people capable of doin' strange things, but we're all on this rust bucket together, and I'm pretty damn sure whatever it is that's messin' with us ain't one of us.
If -- [ He shot an apologetic look towards Kovacs before continuing to address the rest of the meeting, ] -- if whatever took over Kovacs did it to get his sister, they had to know she was comin', right? And he ain't the only one that's done things without havin' control of himself.
I walked straight damn into one of those cryo pods a few days ago. It ain't like I had a choice or a thought about it. And that would make no damn sense for any of us to do. So let's focus on what is doin' this to us, rather than who, alright?

( point of order and all. )
Her body did. She was fucking dead when I found her. I just made sure she had no chance of coming back.
( which was still bad but he hadn't murdered her. he hadn't killed that member of his family. )
The last time I saw my sister, she was exploding above me. I found her ashes in my hair for a week.
( so, what he'd seen before he'd come here, that had been a fake out. a hallucination. not real. completely a production of his injured mind. )

So they brought in a corpse? [ Sorry Kovacs, he has no idea what's going on. ]
That's-
My point still stands, though, right? Who the hell else would - or could - do somethin' like that. It's gotta be the station.

Stations don't say oops, Alex.
[ Apollo sounds rattled. A little frustrated, even. He isn't doing this to be stubborn or divisive; he genuinely believes there's someone on the ship. Not something, someone. And he's quickly running out of the strength of will to be patient about the theory, no matter how unpopular it is. ]
Up until now I might have agreed with you. Sure, it could have been the station. Malfunctioning teleporters, ghosts in the communications system, whatever - that could all be chalked up to a broken space station on the fritz. But between Kovacs' possession and the oops thing, this is starting to feel more human. There's definitely someone pulling the strings here.
[ Apollo is guilty of jumping on to horrible and bizarre theories - he's clutched at straws before now, desperate to pin the blame on something and give his anger a direction. But this feels different. ]
This is someone fucking us around. There are a hell of a lot of unopened doors and locked down decks out there that we haven't busted open. I'm not saying it's one of us right here but they could definitely be on the ship.
[ Basically, Theory #372: The Call Is Coming From Inside The House. ]

[He stands straight, his arms folds, feet apart - an easy, but ready stance - and speaks with a calm decisiveness. A picture of what one would expect from a Captain, belying the way the back of his neck itches and his gut tightens.]
The way it's been tormenting us, from the music to the gifts.... It knows us. It has to be listening and watching.

and he's just going to glare at apollo because it was his fault. he wanted another bed to throw at you. )
Not willingly.
( kovacs repeats mike's two words because, once again, he starts to wonder if there's someone in here that had been taken the fuck over and was now crawling all over, causing this. )
So, maybe it is someone right here in this room but they're not in control. That'd be a nice fucking rude awakening, wouldn't it? Great way for whoever's in charge to get a fucking laugh.

[Mike shifts, eyes moving across the faces at the front of the crowd. Meaning what he said next for all of them.]
We're only going to know something's wrong if we know each other. If we let whoever or whatever this thing is tear us apart, we're already at the disadvantage.

I'm saying it ain't one of us, that's all.
But I've met enough AI here to know that just 'cause somethin' ain't human don't mean it doesn't say 'oops'. The station itself could be sentient - we don't know that.
I just don't want us startin' to get all paranoid about each other when there ain't any proof that we've done anythin'. Seems like the kinda thing whatever is messin' with us would want, right?
They've already proven they're damn well down with us gettin' at each other's throats.

It is worth mentioning that there is no reason that it cannot be both. Where I am from, my father has a castle. It is a traveling device that can emerge anywhere on the planet he so chooses. As a result, the castle also bends to his will.
It had been my initial impression that this station was similar. I have no reason to think differently. At least one person's will could be influencing this place, if not more. Whether for their own demented game, or for some other reason.
We should also consider the words of the previous crew's claim, that they thought they "saved" the world.

( maybe there was someone like that on board but he'd only know if he could figure out what the hell that hokey sounding thing was. )

[ the guy that pipes up is kind of out of the way, and was he there this whole time?? huh. he's not exactly tall, and he's dressed all in plain black, so maybe he's just easily overlooked.
he unfolds his arms to gesture, head tilting. ]
Some of us from that reality have the capability to tap into it and use it. It grants us a number of abilities, like telekinesis, telepathy, things like that.

Are you one with the Force? [ he said us. ]

the question earns a small, wan smile. ]
Jedi once. It was.. a long time ago, though. I don't see eye-to-eye with the Order any longer.

So you would be able to sense it, if another Force user were in vicinity?

And what, may I ask, is your time?

Four thousand years prior to the others, give or take.

At my time, the Order nor the Empire has fallen yet. I'm not sure where that places us in relation to one another.
