[It is at least a week or two since Haru made the first announcement about finding the materials to make a hydroponics garden, and most of the time after that announcement was spent working out the kinks and working with other people in improving the state of the garden.

Today though? Haru thinks she is ready to make the garden available to other people, a space where others can come when they feel stressed out... or a space where they can come and grow anything they desire.

She sends out a text @EVERYONE:]

Hello everyone, This is Haru.

The hydroponics garden is ready and available to use. If anyone would like to drop by I will be here for quite some time if anyone has any questions. It is located right across from the Mess Hall.

[If anyone DOES decide to drop by? Haru will be there tending plants and free to answer any questions or give a simple run down of how the garden works.]

i am curious to know what sort of plants are growing upon this vessel, as it seems almost completely devoid of life aside from those who walk its halls

Vegetables that we can eat, aloe, sunflowers, and spathiphyllum so far. There is also a section that is reserved to make an air filtration grid, thanks to a couple of gentleman here.

I would like to expand the range of things growing of course.

i worked with plants for healing before
aloe is a good start for such uses but we will need more than just that
growing our vegetables is also a good beginning for us just in case we ever run out of food in the mess hall and

[ this is probably the most she's spoken since arriving. at least, the most she's said without biting poison in her words. ]

( vanessa still isn't accustomed to reading the network, not knowing that there's been a post about the garden. she's still making her way around the station, examining each floor for information or any rooms that may be of use.

she hadn't expected a garden indoors -- it certainly didn't look like a greenhouse, not when they were in space.

it draws her attention, getting vanessa to look around, examine that plants are there (if grown enough). it also provides an opportunity -- if someone else is here they may know something that she doesn't.

[And Haru? She is glad to help provide any sort of information. Especially when it was in such a subject that she considered herself somewhat of an expert.

So she turns her head once she realizes someone is speaking.]

It wouldn't have come together without a lot of help, but this garden will provide nutrition and medicinal herbs alike once it really starts to grow.

[She's going to be moving a few plants here and there, those that need more from the heat lamps.]

What has been planted?

[Rhea'li has been near desperate for some kind nature. Being trapped on a unfamiliar 'space station' has been testing him in a way that all the fighting hadn't really. He never thought he would long for the warmth of sunlight on his face so much until even that simple pleasure has been taken from him.

So Haru will find a short man with cat-like ears -- a loop of brass piercing each one -- and a long fluffy tail approaching her. When he speaks, a hint of slightly elongated canines can be spotted, though he smiles warmly.]

I wouldn't say "mine", but I did start it a couple of weeks ago.

[She decided that there wasn't any way that she could be selfish with this garden. If it was to help everyone, then she supposed that everyone should have an opportunity to come here and help tend it if they so wished.]

It hasn't had a lot of time to grow yet, but... it's getting there!

[Rhea'li steps forward, crouching so he can lean forward press his hands in the soil. Oh, how he's missed the feel of dirt! He almost wants to roll in it. But he won't... mostly because that would crush whatever she's planted in here.]

I've no experience in gardening. [Farming?] Frequent travel makes such things impractical.

[A small smile as he looks over to Haru.]

[So, apparently, you can get bored of programming. Who the fuck knew? Wow.

Erika approaches the garden like a cat approaches an unfamiliar room; first with one big, slow lap around the edges, peering sidelong into the rows of sprouts, then by moving inwards and examining each new thing carefully in sequence - kneeling down to look closely at leaves, roots, trays of water.

She's never been one to start conversations.]

[Hey, everyone can get bored of doing one thing, right? Right.

Haru will let the girl explore the room. Not disturbing any peace here. It's better that way isn't it? Though she will glance at her every so often to see what she's looking at or if she looks like she may have questions.

It's fascinating, isn't it? That we are able to grow things in such an unconventional manner.

Mmm. [She isn't innately interested in the subject, but it's good that someone else is - it's good that this is being done with some expertise - etcetera. Humming conveys as much of that as Erika cares to.

What kind of maintenance does it need?

I wouldn't have been able to do it without help, so I can't take all of the credit. But...thank you, Yusuke-kun.

[She's smiling. Happy this ended up working out for her. She's always so excited to introduce people to new things like this.]

It's going to be a lovely garden once it all starts to grow.

[ Ryo rarely misses much.

The addition across from the Mess Hall is no exception. He's been watching idle comings and goings for a while now, but the network announcement had at least confirmed his suspicions. He doesn't respond to it, but instead makes a note to add it to his typical rounds. There's often very little that's new that draws Ryo's full attention. He isn't interested in basic discoveries and information that he already knows what to do with and what can be done with it. This, however, is something with practical promise.

When he comes by, he takes the opportunity to slip around Haru while she's either busy with someone else or distracted. He wants a moment to look through without being disrupted, to see what is available to everyone on the station and what the general set-up is. He has a few ideas of his own by the time she's likely not to be occupied, mostly ranging in the form of precautionary tactics to medicinal plants.

He turns his head once he's certain she's done, giving her a small nod. ]

Sorry, [ he says, the blue of his eyes fixed solely on her for the moment. His mouth curves into a polite, if barely there, smile. It's the expected amount of social niceties, much like the pitch and the cadence of his voice. It's smooth, placid. ] I didn't want to interrupt your conversation.

[ He adjusts the sleeve of his long, pale coat before continuing. It seems so impractical, to wear all white in a station like this, but he looks wholly untouched. ]

You've likely already been asked the basics, [ he says, attention finally lifting to plants she's been tending. He already has knowledge of what they are, so the impression is more cursory as though one assessing their growth thus far. ] Do you have any plans for a backup power source, managing stress, and the prevention diseases?

[ The university he works for found him to be a boon in several circumstances. Chemistry and biology always had a use for any plants in some respect or another, so it wasn't uncommon that he'd solve interdepartmental issues for them. ]

[Though she doesn't greet Ryo upon his arrival, she does give him a glace as he's walking around. Luckily for him, she was busy explaining something to one of the other space station residents that came wandering her way. Explaining the basics of the garden and how the upkeep would happen.

It was simple to her, of course.

She gives him the same pleasantries back, a smile and a nod while taking in what he has to say. Of course she had thought about all of those things. But with her own limited knowledge for that side of things, plus... her limited supplies. There were just some things that had been set to the side.]

It's no problem.

[She takes note of his appearance, takes not of his posture. Not really trying to read him just yet.]

With my limited supplies, there wasn't too much I could do in the way of those topics just yet. But I didn't plan on neglecting them.

[She will dust her hands off, giving him her full attention now.]

Though I am always taking suggestions and ideas to improve the quality of this area.

A garden. How useful.

What crops do you intend on growing?

My intentions are to grow fresh fruits and vegetables so that we have actual food to sustain ourselves with, and some medicinal plants as well.

There is also an air filtration grid, set up by a man named Prax.

[Makoto shows up at the garden with gloves and a look of extreme determination on her face. It's not the first time she's been here, since she assisted a little with setup, but if Makoto is one thing above all others, it's tenacious. Now that this is started, she's damn well going to make sure it continues successfully.]

[Plus, it's Haru's. So it's important.]

Haru? I'm here with extra hands, if you want them. [A beat.] Extra in addition to your hands, I mean. I still only have two.

[Haru is really glad to see Makoto in the garden today. It has bee quite a lot different than normal since she has started letting people in here. Questions and unfamiliar faces all day long.

It was stressful to say the least, so even if Haru normally saw Makoto waking up and going to sleep— it was just nice to have someone she knew here.]

Of course, I'm glad to see you Makoto-chan. I could use plenty of extra hands. Whether it be yours or I sprout some of my own!

A garden sounds great! The food that comes out of the device in the mess hall isn't all that appetizing, so I was wondering when you humans would find an alternative.

I don't know anything about gardening myself, but if you need anything I'm here to provide support.

The food that those machines produce are a disgrace if you ask me. I feel like this may rectify the situation...just a little.
